Madhouse to Produce Wolverine and Iron Man Anime

Marvel Entertainment announced today that they're partnering up with the well known Madhouse to create some new series based off of Marvel Comics characters for the Japanese market. Similar to what was done by Gonzo with Witchblade, the series will be done in a way that fits into the Japanese anime sensibilities which means they may not retain a lot of familiar elements that the comics fans are familiar with.

Wolverine and Iron Man were the two characters talked about specifically, which isn't a surprise considering the theatrical aspects of the live action movies, but Marvel talked about there being four series in production for a 2010 Japanese airdate. The first series will launch in spring 2010, debuting on Animax, a 24-hour Japanese anime network.  As is to be expected, both Marvel and Madhouse will be capitalizing on the merchandising aspect of this as well.

In December of 2007, Marvel began working more with the Japanese market as they started a new manga initiative which includes an X-Men manga and a Wolverine manga.

I'll be interested in checking this out. I wouldn't mind seeing a different approach to these for an anime series.

Not to talk smack on anime or logan (tony stark's a douche bag, I'll talk all the smack on him I want), but how are wolverine or ironman any different then about 68% of all anime already out there? Isn't this like making another King Kong remake and telling the fans that its something new?

Marvel's done this before in the 70's when they licensed "Japanese Spider-man". Have you ever seen the live action Japanese Spider-man? That $#! was crazy! You can MST3K that $#! like mother F***ing crazy! I hate Japanime, but if this $#! is as whacked out F***ing crazy as "Japanese Spider-man", I may just hafta watch that $#!

Well, Madhouse has worked on western projects before and are a pretty competent studio... it will be in teresting how they handle the Incredible Hulk and the Invinsible Iron-Man (who was my favorite character while I collected comic books many moons ago), and the japanese have lots of experience with armored heroes ;).

With all of the chacters in the Marvel universe, why over saturate us with Logan (Whom I like much) and Tony Stark. Give the public new chacters to see.
