In an in-depth interview with Newsarama, comic creator Mike Allred said the movie version of his 'Madman' comic is nearing a reality.
"We’re on what I hope will be the final polish of the screenplay. Some of the notes we got back have been addressed, and have been very useful to where the screenplay is much stronger," Allred said. "Now, we’re concerned there might be a Screen Actors Guild strike! (laughs) So we’re waiting to see if we have something we can put into production soon. I can say it’s as close to a launch as it ever has been."
Sadly, things have been looking-promising for the 'Madman' movie at numerous points throughout the past decade. Final polishes have been turned in at several points. Super-hot filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has vowed to make it his "next film" after 'Spy Kids', then after 'Spy Kids 2', then after 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico', etc. More recent word was that Rodriguez would only produce the movie and not direct it.
There's no telling if this is, in fact, the final "final polish" but we sure hope so.
