Magnet, a genre-focused branch of Magnolia Pictures, has picked up the rights to the upcoming monster movie, SPLINTER. The trade reports that the division paid for the North American rights to director Toby Wilkin's next film, a horror set to hit theaters sometime in 2008. Wilkins was also recently tapped to direct The Grudge 3 for Sam Raimi's Ghost House Productions.

Plot Concept: This horror film revolves around a young couple held hostage by an ex-convict, all of whom are menaced by a parasitic monster.
