if they do bring lex gonna have to be a very intense and sinister lex unlike anything we have never watched on an any movie or comic even t.v show. just insane and ruthless yet very smart cold and not funny .. that's been done to much and gotta say i was never that crazy bout the portrait of lex in any of the superman movies. Great actors played lex but i don't think we need that back.  Just saying ..

Basically in Smith's story you got Brainiac searching for the Eradicator so he can absorb its infinite energy and maintain his humanoid form forever and become all powerful.  He ends up stumbling upon Supes on Earth where he also knows Eradicator is because Jor-El "wouldn't leave him alone without the Eradicator."  Brainiac teams up with Luthor to exploit Luthor's company for energy and gain the trust of the humans and he builds the Shadowcaster in order to block out the sun and weaken Supes.  Brainiac sends Doomsday down to kill Superman and Eradicator finds Superman's body and gives him the regeneration suit to revive him.  Eradicator is actually the ship Kal-El came to Earth in and Supes has to get into the Eradicator like an Iron Man suit while healing in order to destroy the Shadowcaster and get his powers back from the sun and eventually save the day.

It was a fun read.  I felt like I had actually watched the movie.  And keep in mind that I'm not a comics guy, so all this was new for me and I had nothing else to really fall back on as far as history and reference.

Superman kills Zod. He snaps his neck. The End.

SmokingFrog77 6/10/2013 11:57:14 PM

Yeah, gotta do Brainiac - do him like Geoff Johns wrote him in the pre-New-52 miniseries "Brainiac" - brilliant redo and one of the best Superman stories ever IMO. Yes, Luthor will have to be a part of it at some point, but personally I'd be happy for him to remain in the background - as brilliant as Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey are as actors, Luthor has been done to death as a villain, and the 'criminal genius' angle is old. Go the corporate psychopath angle, except less of a suave fuck than in Lois & Clark.

And the JLA villain has to be Darkseid, there simply isn't anyone else.

Wiseguy 6/11/2013 12:26:39 AM

No way. You can't go Darkseid right off the bat with JL. You build towards that.

OMAC and Brother Eye are to me the most sensical for the first go round. After MOS especially and possibly a couple of other solo films the govt. will have witnessed super beings and alien invasions. What better reason to build Brother Eye and OMACs, having the system go rogue or controlled by a villain.

I say Luthor and Metallo - since Luthor made him. Also, I want to see Luthor in that kryptonite "mech" suit.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium 6/11/2013 4:06:03 AM

VT - that story wouldn't work until at least the third or fouth movie.

Dazzler 6/11/2013 4:35:49 AM

I say a hardcore Doomsday movie.
