Doomsday would be my choice if they've already established enough of Superman's history and backstory. His death means so much more if it's been established the MOS is earth's most beloved son. Plus, it would work better if the other heroes are included as they were in the original story - Doomsday plowed through the JLU and JLE before tackling supes. Would be nice to see some buildup like that again. I guess that presents a problem for him being the star villain of a movie... plus so very little dialog. I think Brainiac is the best choice with buildup toward a Darkseid intergalactic slamdown. If DC is smart they'll build whatever they're planning into a ultimate Darkseid showdown complete with all his supporting cast: Granny Goodness and the Furies, Kalibak, Steppenwolf, etc. A JL movie patterned after Superman/Batman: Apocalypse would be fantastic.

DC/Wb will reboot Batman for the DC movie Universe if they are NOT RETARDED.

Wiseguy 6/11/2013 1:52:41 PM

The rumor has been that Batman will indeed be rebooted but not so much with an origin story. Supposedly picking up with him on his second year. Maybe a semi-soft sort of reboot ala Hulk.

HAHA, I love "Hater logic" it can render the rules of math obsolete in one passion filled rant!  Man, some dudes just seem so angry about this shit, it's supposed to be entertainment!

whatever, I'm excited about this film and every DC character who might get a film as a result, unified universe or not.  No amount of Nolan/Snyder bashing or debates about who's better than who can change that for me.  I'm one of the lucky billions who were able to really enjoy Nolan's films, and I happen to have an equal amount of love for everything Zack Snyder has done too, including Suckerpunch.  I'm glad I'm not someone who can't enjoy movies like that cuz now I'm pretty damn confident that this Man Of Steel film will be just what I always wanted in a superman movie!

Yes.  I agree, no origin story for batman.  Just jump right in.

DarthDestructicus 6/11/2013 2:20:10 PM

I think DC and WB jumped the gun on this one. I would have waited at least until after opening weekend. Now if the first isn't a blockbuster (see Green Lantern), then you have to eat shoe polish for putting your entire foot in your mouth. When will DC and WB learn?

And by the way, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT create a Superman movie with Lex Luthor as the primary villain. I'm so tired of seeing him in Superman movies. It's as if no one has any originality anymore. Please either pull a new villain from Superman's rogues gallery or create a new villain.

For any of you cinematic score buffs out there, Hans Zimmer released the Man of Steel soundtrack today and it's fantastic!  It's what we've come to expect from Hans, a brilliant mix of synthesizers and organic orchestral intruments to truly modernize the sound.  Lots of emotion on this one, you can practicaly feel the wind as you listen to some of the passeges and imagine supes flying through the clouds!  It's some of his best work in my opinion!  I know some people will mock the thunderous percussion which has become a trademark of his, but it's used to perfect effect here, and some of the behind the scenes info on how it was recorded is pretty interesting, particularily how he spoke of assembling the best drummers in the world and having them all pound out beats at the same time.  We're talking Danny Carey of tool, Josh Freeze from NIN and many other projects and about 100 more famous and not so famous names.

cool shit

I picked up my copy of the Hans Zimmer score earlier today and it is indeed excellent.

DarthDestructicus perhaps WB/DC are finally set on moving forward regardless of how big or small a hit MOS is.

I think Marvel for example showed that you can have small hits and build towards something huge. Thor, Cap and Hulk all stayed below 500mill.

Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts said a fairly wise man by the name of Aristotle, and a JL film will be the WHOLE

@Axia, I wouldn't say the reviews are glowing.  It's currently at 70% on RT after 40 reviews.  It does seem like the genre sites love it though and I am super excited for it.  I'm not the biggest Superman fan, but really want to see the rest of the DCU on the big screen.  This needs to be a hit for that to happen.
