Mangold for Another Wolverine?

Re-Team with Jackman

By Robert T. Trate     November 05, 2013
Source: Deadline (via Collider)

With a world wide take of $413 million, it is a no brainer that Fox and Marvel will want a third solo Wolverine film. The man that Fox wants is James Mangold, naturally to direct. Here is what Collider is reporting.

“Mangold is in talks with 20th Century Fox to return for aWolverine sequel and to write the treatment.  Unsurprisingly, all plot details are being kept under tight wraps, but it’s possible they don’t even know what the plot will be at this point.  The Wolverine used Logan’s most popular solo story—his time in Japan—but now they’re free to either work from scratch or loosely pull from any plotline from the character’s 39-year history”.

The other issue, one would think, is what about Hugh Jackman? The star has given no indication that he wants to walk away from the role in which he is synonymous with. So Maniacs, what is the next Wolverine story that you would like to see jump off the page? “Old Man Logan” is pipe dream at best, well at least until Marvel gets all their characters under one roof. Perhaps something original? Sound off below!

Marvel Knights series- Wolverine & Punisher

RobertTrate 11/5/2013 9:24:10 AM

 Who would play the Punisher?

Muenster 11/5/2013 9:38:56 AM

Bring back Thomas Jane.

Why do people always suggest characters that everyone knows are with different studios. Punisher/Wolverine ain't happening or Wolvie/Spidey, Wolvie/Cap...stop it already.

I addressed this some time ago but Old Man Logan can definitely be adapted. All the Marvel studios characters just would have to be replaced with mutants. And that's what I would do for sure if that's where I wanted to go to wrap Jackman's Wolverine arc.

That aside I'd like to see Omega Red finally break into film. Let's have some good old Russian vs US fun.

 Wiseguy...
We already got plenty of US vs Russia action in Rocky 4! ;)

Well, be that way, Wise!

I want Wolverine vs. Frankenstein anyway!

ah.... old man logan. gotta be one of the top 10 best storyline arcs of the past 15 years. Heart.

Wise, I'm halfway disagreeing with you on Omega Red. Sure, he looks cool, and he had the guise of someone who would have a sweet history and background. However, he never came off as more than a one dimensional character with very lame "death coils" (?). Serious? Death coils? Lame. Arkady needs a more interesting background with more of an edge and bloodlust for me to care one iota about him as a character beyond a cool ponytail, bleach white skin, and retractable tentacles shooting from his forearms. Just another lacky...

How about Black Tom Cassidy? The Reavers with an Australian outback storyline? An introduction to Sinister and maybe the Marauders for a future X-Men tie-in. Btw, the Marauders = best X-Men villains of all time (the classic Claremont/Silverstri Marauder/X-Men fights way back in Uncanny #220-223 were awesome & can't overlook the Mutant Massacre as perhaps the coolest Mutant X-Over of all time). Scalphunter, Arclight, Harpoon, Prism, Blockbuster, Sabertooth, Vertigo, Riptide, Malice, and that power disrupter guy without a uniform (can't remember his name) were just ruthless.

Too soon.. let's see Days of Future Past first.

Really, out of all the franchises I think FOX/X-men should definitely follow the Marvel stradegy. Just saying, they could be on par with the way MArvel films have been going.

WTFC wiseguy. It was a question of "want". Wants are opinions.

btw: It's not unheard of for different studios to loan out lic. characters and to collaborate.

Geez.

I'm agreeing with Wiseguy and Omega Red would kick ass!
