Director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) will be directing the adaptation of Alexis Nolent graphic novel Cyclops after Warner Bros. scooped up the rights, reports Variety. Cathy Konrad will produce with Alexandra Milchan.

"It is an electrifying package you find in the best sci-fi: great action sequences combined with themes that are eminently foreseeable," Mangold told the trade.

Said Konrad: "This is something that Warner Bros. wants to move very quickly on. We already have a shortlist of screenwriters and will be out to people in the next week."

Plot Concept:
Set in the near future, the actioner concerns mercenary forces whose soldiers wear Cyclops-like cameras in their helmets and broadcast in real time to both central command and living rooms. One mercenary chosen to lead an elite squad begins to realize he isn't fighting for freedom and justice as much as for commerce.

I liked 3:10 to yuma , but so far this plot sounds like shit. It reminds me of an updated version or running man/ judge dredd/ universial soldier.... so i dont know...guess I will have to wait and see more about this...maybe im just drunk from celebrating saint patty's day...speaking of saint... saw a video on myspace of troy duffy saying sequal to boondock saints to be filmed this summer...hmm

This does not sound like X-men spin-off?

I could see a low budget solo Cyclops movie. I remember his solo time in the comics after Jean died. It could revolve around the Master Mold (Ultimate Sentinel/mother of Sentinels) which was a great story back in the day.

Condemned was the first update to Running Man. This is just dealing with the world of Reality TV we have come to love so much... and I'm not talking about MTV. I'm talking about CNN and MSNBC.

I'm actually expecting this type of thing to air on television soon already. So, I am looking forward to this movie.

We're almost already there with all the embedded reporters and cameras. I don't know that they would ever allow for live transmissions, you endanger your own people and too many things can go wrong. Anyway, the movie sounds so-so to me. I'll have to wait to see what a trailer looks like or get more info before I get intrigued.

Gee. No one would send soldiers in to combat just to make money would they? That would be unethical. That's just too outrageous to think anyone would let innocent people die for anything other than a righteous cause...

James Marsden just got confused.
This does sound dumb but the director ives it some possible credible.

fft5305 no need to be sarcastic anymore with dubyer lying about the economy and firing people who actually have war experience and didnt buy their way out of serving in Vietnam he's a piece of shit and that is an insult to shit.

Does sound kind of cool....I like mangolds movies. I didn't think I would like 3:10 to Yuma, as I am fickle when it comes to Westerns, but man, I loved that movie. I would like to see what he could do with an all out action movie.
