Mania Box Office Report: 42 Now and Forever

Baseball takes the weekend!

By Robert T. Trate     April 15, 2013
Source: Box Office Mojo

With baseball returning to the stadiums across the country it should come as no surprise that 42 won the box office. It could be that or the fact that Scary Movie V no longer has an audience. The box office numbers below though show that Scary Movie V, in three days, has almost made back its budget. This fact undoubtably means Scary Movie VI

I got out this weekend and caught Jurassic Park 3D. It is great when a twenty year old movie can hold up and still deliver. The visual effects were amazing in IMAX 3D, but it was hearing John Williams score in a giant theatre again that gave me chills.

What did you see last weekend?

This week we have Oblivion to look forward to. Check out the film in IMAX. Director Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) has stated that it was specifically shot for IMAX. Check out the “IMAX Behind the Frame” interview.

Wow, The Croods definitely was right place/right time. The marketed the hell out of that movie, and yet I know no one that has seen it, even those with offspring.

Saw JP 3D this weekend in IMAX and loved it!

I saw 42 and place beyond the pines this week. 42 was a solid biography/sports picture. I would recommend.

Place beyond the pines was good and interesting structure as the narrative passes from one character to the next through a linear story all connected to each other. Not totally original but interesting to use in a straight drama.

Looking forward to oblivion on friday.

Pretty excited to see Oblivion. I really enjoy movies filmed with Imax in mind. I hope that Christopher Nolans next film is all Imax. The scenes in Batman movies shot with Imax are so epic.

Looks like a week where most movies got to their budgets.  I should not care but it's good to see movies get the business they deserve.  I can't wait for kickstarter to get more mainstream to get some worthy movies get made.
