I had some friends who wanted to go see this, so I actually saw this yesterday.  It was pretty good.  While these movies still aren't exactly my cup of tea, I did like this movie better than the last two LOTR movies.

Didn't catch the HFR version (despite the theatre listing it as such).

Wiseguy, are you going to have enough time to do all of your Christmas shopping in between all of your movie screenings???  (Do you pay by the movie, or do you just pay rent at your local theatre?)  :)

I'm glad so many people liked this.  So far only oen other person other than myself was horribly dissapointed.  In fact they out right didn't like it, and I can't say that.  I just was disappointed.  I wish he'd have them 6 months apart instead.

I'm not sure what version I saw it in.  The opening of the movie with Bilbo and Frodo was completely unnecessary.  It would have been better if the movie opened with Bilbo meeting Gandalf as in the book and more organic to have simply told what happened with Smaug when they tell Bilbo the story from his perspective.

I was also disappointed by the meeting of the White Council as they basically just rehashed what we already knew.

Aside from those issues though, I thought the rest of the movie was quite good.

Yes, true, I hardly get time to watch even two movies in a weekend ... whats going on, Wise? Are you Flash by any chance?
