somehow it is good to see that everyone can suffert from boxoffice, nobody is protected. Stallone bomb with bullet to the head, Arnie bomb with the last stand, Statman bomb with Parker, now finally Perry bomb with peeples....

Gatsby did 51 mil?  I never would have guessed on this oscar bait movie.

I saw Gatsby and liked it very much.  Why is a movie about a rich guy who throws awesome parties and has an affair with another guy's wife not suitable for summer?  Because it's based on a "classic" novel?  Let me suggest  that stories are considered "classics" because they are good stories and people like them.

I wouldn't call Peeples a bomb.  I saw it this weekend and it was pretty good.  The movie made almost $5 million and cost $15 to make.  It will more than likely make a profit because it was made so cheaply.  Also, it was just produced by Tyler Perry, it was written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism who directed ATL & Drumline which were also pretty good.  Peeples was pretty much just a African American take on Meet the Parents and it was decent flick.  I guess the other reason I like it is because David Allen Grier is criminally underrated as a comedic actor in my opinion.

Anyway, what was I thinking, it's associated with Tyler Perry so it must be shlock.

I think the idea for summer movies is usually the habit of getting big large movies full of action and explosions and mindless T & A stuff, not the usual drama movie from a ''classic'' novel.

Has nothing to do with the book or the story, it's the timing where I agree it might've done better in the fall or around the holidays of X-mas.

Gatsby was a pretty daring and bold move by WB but it's a simple case of counter programming with IM3 being the big and basically only guy in the block and it paid up in spades.

Saw IM3 for a 3rd time. The movie just gets better and I'm glad to see it didn't take a dive for the second weekend. That's was a pretty damn good hold considering its huge opening.

Can't believe I'm saying this but with IM3 and MOS coming Star Trek feels almost like an afterthought. I'm hoping it's really good but for some reason I'm bracing myself for disappointment based on the reviews I've read.

Oh btw we should mention that IM3 is up to 949 million worldwide to which we all should say even all the butthurt  haters

i also liked Gatsby. Especially since I didnt remember anything about the story since I read it in High School, so i was like, "Oh this is a pretty good story!".
