Pacific Rim is probably my best 2013' Summer movie so far right next to Star Trek. It was crazy good!!! Had to watch it twice!

Saw it and loved it, will definetly see it again to pick up some more details. Guillermo you gave us a evry entertaining movie, dont think that Grown Ups 2 is better, it simply sucks big time and the people who prefered thos turd of a movie really have brain issues.

i have never based the box offuce results on a movie i want to see, as well as most others on this site, i did expect despicable me 2 to be number one, but grown ups one was funny, so i can see the draw to it by most folks, i will still go seePR regardless....hopefully this weekend along with world war z

DM2 will definitely break $300 million easily and barring something else breaking out this summer wind up #2 for the summer behind IM3.  With its small production budget, it will probably be the big winner of the summer as it is huge overseas as well.

Pacific Rim is a the epitome of a geek/nerd cinematic dream come true. It's the perfect kind of movie for kids, too. Think about the Godzilla/Gamera films you watched as a kid, and how it helped you become the maniac you are today. They were flawed, certainly, but you were a kid and they were AMAZING. SHAME on anyone geek parent who brought their kid to anything else but Pacific Rim this weekend; you've been stripped of your right to label yourself as such- get out fo my sight.
(not directed at you maniacs but at shameful cinema goers everywhere, whom I am digusted with)

Well, I know around where I live there was hardly any showings of PR, at least in terms of a movie in its opening week.  The RAVE theater nearest to me had more showings of Star Trek than it.  I think it'll be ok when all is said and done, esp. internationally but even here in the US as well....and in terms of robot movies not doing well in US, didn't the Transformers movies do alrite here, or am I mistaken?

redhairs99 7/15/2013 12:04:40 PM

gammenon, the Transformers movies are an established brand that's been around for 30 years.  That's why the films, as terrible as they were were successful.  Also, there are exceptions to all rules, but in general giant monster/robot movies don't work for the general US audience.

This movie was great, my only complaint was the night-rain sequences.  I wished more fights took place in the daylight.  Wished this had done better.

Grown Ups 2 was a great family movie. Me, my wife and kid thought it was hilarious. We'll probably go watch it again.
