Everything is awesome... especially if you love LEGOs. The stop motion toy film knocked Ride Along off its three week throne. What was it that made The LEGO Movie so popular? Was it the kid’s movie for everyone? The cast? The tongue-in-cheek adventure? Ray Subers of Box Office Mojo had this to report: “The LEGO Movie's success can be attributed to a handful of factors. The brand itself is remarkably strong: most people have some experience with the tiny building blocks, and that experience is generally positive. Warner Bros. built on this brand recognition with a marketing campaign that had something for everyone. In particular, the pop culture references and self-aware humor—plenty of which came from Lego Batman—helped lure in adults, which is the key to success with animated movies (after all, they're the ones paying for it). To that end, it didn't hurt that The LEGO Movie received nearly unanimous praise from critics (95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes)”.

We here at Mania reviewed it twice! Check out Rob Vaux’s Review and Robert Trate’s Review

After a long wait and a lot of skepticism, we can finally pass judgement on the remake of RoboCop. Midnight show anyone?

Isn't LEGO Movie a failure? Don't they need to make double thier budget to be successful? Plus advertising cost? Or is that only for the 200 million budget movies?

karas1 2/10/2014 3:32:54 AM

I saw Monuments Men.  Good film.

violator14 2/10/2014 4:28:37 AM

Vinjoy-u do realize that movies play at theaters a LITTLE bit longer than just their opening weekend right?

ElBaz13 2/10/2014 5:39:33 AM

LOL Vinjoy.

Not only that it's the first weekend only, there is also international box office, merchandise and dvd sales. Grossing 69 million the first weekend on a 60 million budget film in February is a mega blockbuster. This movie's strong word of mouth will also carry it over the next 2-3 weekends at number 1. Guaranteed to hit at least 200 million domestic.

Went to see "Monument's Men", very good movie along with a little bit of history that I had no idea about.

And apparently it's "Over & Out" for "I Fronkenshteen"...

I've got this theory that Monument's Men is George Clooney's version, or answer to Stallone's The Expendable's franchise.

Enjoyed the hell out of lego movie. Incredible animation and surprisinlgy enjoyable story. Hope it gets an oscar nom next year for best animated pic.

I hope the success of the Lego Movie leads to more aggressive computer animated comic book features. Why pay some 40 year old actor $50,000,000 to play a Super Hero when you can pay a talented artist a lot less to just do the characters voice and put the muscles back on the animated Superheroes bodies instead of on the outside of their costumes.  The technology is out there now...just go to youtube and look at the "Batman: Arkham Origins Official Trailer."
