MANIA LIVES!

Saw Robocop this weekend. It was a good, more realistic interpretation of the character. The original is now a classic but like the 1938 Wizard of Oz they still make new versions of that, too.  It is much more a drama of what Alex Murphy goes through in the truly horrifying circumstances he finds himself in which makes the action alot less. It's not as much a "blowt stuff up reel guud" movie that I think people want from it. But I think the foreign box office is big so there could be a sequel. Still, they ain't making a statue of this new version of Robocop for Detroit right now.

Kevin Hart is the new Eddie Murphy. I still haven't seen one of his movies but everytime I see him on TV or on a talk show I laugh out loud and it looks like its the same for the rest of America. When we saw Robo last Saturday the cineplex had signs posted on the windows to let people know all showings of About Last Night were sold out.

I liked the Robo reboot quite well.  It wasn't quite what I expected, but I wanted to see more of it after it was over.  Making a quarter of the budget in the opening weekend isn't a good sign, but a follow up is possible if (as Monkeyfoot said) it does well overseas and in Blu-Ray sales.

I have to admit that I wonder if all of the streaming services will hinder disc sales to the point that sequels don't get made.  There have always been video rentals, but digital streaming seems to be more and more popular.  I think I will always prefer a disc with a digital copy, but I think that is a viewpoint fewer and fewer people seem to have these days.

I agree.  A Blu-ray looks way way way better than HD streaming from Netflix.  HAven't seen anything lately.  My daughter saw endless love and enjoyed it.  I'm glad i missed that one.

Oh and is the movie that you have in ninth supposed to read Lone Survivor instead of Love Survivor?

I saw Robocop last night, and I enjoyed it.  I kinda liked the fact that it was less action-oriented and more character-driven.  The original was so awesome and kickass and we didn't need a rehash.  It's like an origin story, and it addresses the issues he has with coming to grips with his physical transformation and the emotions that go along with those changes.  I really hope they get the sequel that they were clearly setting up, but it sounds like they're only predicting a $70M gross, which ain't gonna cut it.

Gotta go catch Lego sometime soon.  I have no plans to see About Last Night, and it's partly because of Kevin Hart.  Not that I think he's a dick or a bad guy or anything, but I find him rather annoying for some reason.  He was on ESPN's First Take one day last week and I had to change the channel after his first five minutes because he was literally giving me a headache.  And the jokes he was making just weren't all that funny.  It felt like he was trying too hard.  Now, I think his standup is pretty funny, but in general I find him rather irritating.  Plus, the movie doesn't seem too appealing to me.

Monuments Men was good, but lacking.  It could've been much better if they had just fleshed it out a bit more and added another 45 minutes or so.  Winter's Tale looks to be another Colin Ferrell box office bomb.

almostunbiased, Love Survivor is Colin Ferrell's little-known Valentine's Day indie romantic/comedy/action/vampire flick.

Yes Love Survivor was a about a team of marines dealing with their ex's and surviving that.  What a bunch of bitches.
