Dont forget...he was in Heroes too...sure for only a couple episodes..but i really dig Christopher Eccleston.

 I thought he was a great Doctor. His misery gutsiness was exactly what the tenth (I guess actually the 11th) Doctor called for.

I think Eccleston was the best Doctor out of all of them.  The reason being that, before the timeline of the show, the Doctor was, in his own way, a monster.  He was responsible for a genocide, albeit in vengeance for the one his race suffered, but nevertheless, he became so unhinged that he was capable of great destruction.  Christopher Eccleston was the only actor that ever really had that hint of menace, that glint of genuine insanity that should have been part of the character.  In short, Eccleston seems a little bit dangerous whereas Tennant seemed much more manic.
