Sorry Parker was not done right. He is not some mal-adjusted, awkward teenager, he was a geek. Not a skateboarding grunge type, more like the Bill Gates type with interests in photography. Wish they would stop trying to capture more of the teenage demographic by pandering to the teen angst angle.

One other issue, I liked the original soutndtrak better, Raimi's version had to the music down perfect. IMHO. Other than that I liked the film alot. Thought the bringing Spidey back to being more human and vulnerable was a good touch.

Was it me or did this origin seem like it is following the Ultimate universe more? I am wondering if that is what they are going for. Also would have liked to have heard Ben teach Peter the ultimate lesson. Never heard that once and that is the staple of Spider man lore. It is his driving ethic behind things.

Ooh - he's skateboarding - it means he not a nerd - waaaah! What does skateboarding have to do with anything? Does skateboarding make you a cool person all of the sudden?

No "untold" story here. Replaced the green goblin with lizard, that's pretty much it. I did like Garfield's Parker though. Hopefully the sequel can tell a new story with a non tragic, interesting villain.

Spoiler Alert

Any spectulation on the end credits sequence?  It sounded a lot like Wilem Dafoe, but when he vanished, I immediately thought...Mysterio!

huh, apparently we can't even use the hashmarks and greater than symbol for arrows marking spoilers.

Just saw it and LOVED it. I felt that Garfield was absolutely superior to McGuire as both Parker and Spidey. His Parker is not as much of an emo victim as McGuire's, but still vulnerable. And his Spidey finally shows the personailty we all love with a few well-placed wisecracks. Also, I felt the Lizard was the most menacing villain in a Spiderman movie to date. I mean, he's a freakin' beast. The chemistry between Stone and Garfield was real and Leary was fabulous as Captain Stacey. I could go on, but will stop gushing now. In short, was not too soon for a reboot and looking forward to the sequel. Cheers.

What's with the Tuesday release day? Very odd and sadly I have to wait for Friday or Saturday since the kids want to see it. :(
