@KeithDaniel: In the end, I walked away with mixed feelings. While I think there are loads of things to like- from snippets of dialogue lifted from the comics to the best characterization of Bane so far, I also cannot help getting the impression that Batman was reduced to a secondary character.

Lex, I would have to strongly disagree with this notion that Batman was reduced to a secondary character.  If anything he was it's center.  Especially at the end where he was finally revealed as the hero that he was (and a statue dedicated to him) to the public.  I thought if any movies had Batman as being a secondary character it was the Burton and Schumacher films.

I think Blake's real name should have been Dick Grayson ... also the statue was probably a bad idea in hindsight ... i mean Bats has always been in the shadows unlike supes ... and batman should have thot of a clever ploy to beat Bane at the end ... dont get me wrong - i feel this is the 2nd best summer movie ... but if these things and others were done better it prob would have topped Avengers for me

@KeithDaniel: I agree that he was far more in the center than in those films, but Blake was far more the center in this particular outing. Batman just was not as part of the solution as before. But I am only nitpicking on what is only an arguably weaker part out of the strongest superhero trilogy for a long, long time to come. Regarding the statue, remember the brief scene of the cops standing in the same hall after it had been wrecked? I wonder whether we will see that there was orignally a Dent statue there in a cut scene...

@Kiethdaniels - I meant, What should we do about our "Bet"

Sorry for not being clearer......

Best line of the movie "So thats what that feels like."

keithdaniel 7/30/2012 7:04:18 PM

Darth, to be honest, given the tragedy of the Aurora Colorado shooting massacre, I'm not that comfortable with changing our avatars in any sort of humorous manner.  It doesn't seem appropriate to do that, even if it's done in good humor.  Maybe I'm being too sensitive, who knows.  However, I told you that I would go through with it if I lost (and we still don't know if I have, because there's still time for TDKR to catch or even surpass Avengers if it has staying power).  We know that you've lost the critical reviews from both the critics and fans, including here at mania.  I'll leave it up to you, if you still want to go through with it we will because I am a man of conviction and of my word.

DarthoftheDead 7/30/2012 7:54:23 PM

No, thats not to senstive at all, and I agree with you more than you mite believe(includingCritic/Fan/B.O. stuff), and I freely admit....I was WRONG (according to our term's, Sir).........but it leaves me in a bind....I want to keep my word to you..but as you say......kinda silly aint it, lol,....if you dont want me to change my Avatar....will you take anything else in trade?

keithdaniel 7/30/2012 9:38:43 PM

Darth, the only thing I ask is that you don't make fun of or mock my faith again...that's all!  So if you can do that...then we're all right, my friend!

DarthoftheDead 7/31/2012 7:52:49 AM

@kiethdaniel - Never say I didnt keep my word, Kieth....

Bet concluded.......

Thank you, for this exchange of idea's......
