I can see why people feel the way they do about Burton, but he has a following, and I'm glad someone out there has no interest in making political thrillers or war movies and always just wants to make something fun.

Big Fish is my favorite Burton Film, it came out right after I lost my dad and it'll always be one of the saddest yet wonderful films for me because of how close it hit to home.

He'll always get my respect.........and money.......even if he does let me down occasionally.

Burton needs a new muse.  Helena Bonham Carter is not it.  Hey Tim, I don't care if she's your wife, leave her out of your movies.  She is one of the overrated actresses working today.  She has been bad in the previous Burton films and it sounds like she's getting in the way in Dark Shadows.  I had some hope that reuniting Burton with Michelle Pfeiffer would make this film promising.  Then I heard Helena Bonham Carter was in this movie and my hopes were diminished.

I still stand by my statement and even though his films had = X amount of profit in the theater doesn't justify a good movie. A quick Google search for crappy films that made a lot of money and you get a list like this:

Treated my bum ass cousin to see Avengers last night, any excuse to see it again :)

Lines for DS were not impressive at all, still felt like more folk were there for the Avengers

iceknight all you had to do was list Twilight and its sequels and your point would've been made :)  But really although I wouldn't defend any of those films I did enjoy some. "crappy" is in the eyes of the beholder it always comes down to taste. How many Oscar winners would many of us consider crap? quite a few I'd say

I agree Wise, the only case made by Iceknight was for an opinion, I happen to like some of those movies and the fact that they made quite a bit of money proves that lots of others like them too.

I'll stand by my statement too, opinions don't mean shit in the face of numbers that can't lie when it comes to determining a movie's worth.

Well I can say the trailers for this movie never thrilled me so I don't plan on seeing this one in theaters. i'll wait to rent it.

On a side note, though. I read an article on my phone from Fox News talking about Depp and Burton working together and what-not. What concerned me was the article mentioned Depp would have been interested to play the role of Batman in Burton's version if had been given the chance. With Nolan wrapping up his trilogy on the Dark Knight, is it possible we will be seeing Burton remaking his version of Batman with Depp as the lead? *shudders*

monkeyfoot....the general public usually does not like good movies...movies making money as being a way to predict which ones are good...went out long long ago.  I mean if that were true the new star trek movie would be good...and we all know that is impossible.

@gauleyboy.  Edward scissor hands was good, the batman movies were all bad until dark night (seriously how can anyone like those crazy over the top old ones?) pee wee was ridiculous, I won't even talk about planet of the apes or the others you listed.
