HAHAH C . First of all Sly's Dread looked more like the comic book Dread. Plus it also wasn't 2012 when he made the movie. Of course it was cheesey and it's not his fault whoever wrote it was garbage.

Oh Hell, i won't go see this. How bout wait till it's on HBO or something? Yeah Sure. =)

Ok, I'm going to sympathize with you Rob, I understand exactly how you feel and having seen this myself, I know why you feel that way about this movie.

Having said that, I loved it!!!

Karl Urban's performance drives the film for sure, but the action was awesome! I really liked the visual style, I didn't feel the action scenes were generic at all, slightly predictable perhaps but what movie isn't? I mean, ultimately nobody can say that even the Avengers was unpredictable, we all knew pretty how much how it was gonna go down, but it was really really well executed by everybody involved and I feel that Dredd was too, with just a touch of rookie filmaking thrown in, so that's where I can see Rob's point. I think a lot of the people here will like it.

Sorry Rob, I really enjoyed it. I found it to be the best translation of a single comic book. Though I doubt a single issue of this story exists, I mean that this is all that the character is. It was great to have a small story and not a huge all encompassing world chaging struggle. Dredd does not disappoint.

Most of the reviews I've seen give this a B /B-. I like the understated semi-realistic approach to Dredd and his gear. The oversized shoulder epaulets looked stupid on screen in the Stalone version. It may have worked in the comic but on screen nada.

Stallone's Dredd looked ridiculous. Lycra bodysuits with plastic chrome-sprayed accessories. Sure the film captured the look of MC1, but the judges themselves were not well done. I am still looking forward to this one.  NO COMEDY SIDEKICK!!!!

I will see this, but in all likelyhood, probably not untill rental.  From what I've seen from a number of trailers that I've watched, all of which are well done, it strikes me as a comic-book version of The Raid : Redemption.  It may be something completely different, but I can see myself making comparisons between the two while watching it.  With the fight choreography being unbeatable, I would be left cold by Dredd on that comparison.

Pretty much what I expected. A good rental!

thezillaman 9/21/2012 9:47:06 AM

fuck all this talk about a rental plz, all my friends loved the movie and everyone said the action was real cool. i can't  wait to go see this  new dredd movie .. and how dumb realy to compare this with raid redemption, a martial arts movie. i have raid redemption it was o.k nothing new as far as the martial arts fighting goes. it's the same fighting as the protector muay thai kickboxing . and honestly at one point in the movie there was a fignting scene that was wayyy overly draged out kinda stupid. i wouldent compare apples to orange, nothing there to compare.. final thought here this guys reviews are always a joke,  nothing new there too.. grow a pair people and go watch dredd have a good time just go with the  flow..hahah, lol.

I'm with thezillaman..............this Dredd is WAY closer to the comic than Stallone.  They nailed this.  Read a Dredd comic then compare Stallone to it, no comparison

Haven't seen it yet but Urban looks great, and the story and action looks engaging. I'm just wondering if this movie would been better served if the look of MC1 would have been a little more dystopian, more like Blade Runner..dark, dirty, and overcrowded. MegaCity 1 in this movie looks too clean, too bright. Just a thought.
