I completely agree with Tivii Much BETTER then Thor. I also saw the movie last night and yes the whole Paralax scene wasnt as good as it should be and Blake Lively was on the screen way to much. But the movie was solid it entertained me from start to finish. Ryan Reynolds was great and Mark Strong was fantastic, im going to see this movie again for sure and now all i need is the foreign market to boost its box office total then i should get a sequel....... hopefully and  YES a solid B is what it deserves

This is more or less a discussion of Marvel Universe vs DC Universe productions therefore wouldn't have V for Vendetta and Watchmen on the DC side. If that is the case, then add MIB and Kick-Ass on the Marvel side.

Despite being deemed as "crappy" movies, I will still take FF, DD, Spidey 3 and Wolverine over Steel, Batman and Robin and Catwoman.

Agree with EIBaz13, the most worrying thing for DC is the financial fallout and the future of its movies.

( ... currently watching Sam Jackson on Letterman talking about Avengers - man it must be good to be a Marvel fan at the moment ... )

I am more of a DC fan, but I like the way Marvel has shown restraint with the scope and effects, and focused on the story. And tried to put things in one universe. Imagine if DC had started small - a Green Arrow movie (with BC) ... a Flash movie focusing on the speed force and the history of the speedsters ... then the amazonian ... then throw in Nolan's Batman and supes movies .... hot damn - a JLA movie! ... fans are happy ... warner execs are happy ... ka ching at the BO ... wait where was I? ... right ... GL ... au revoir DC

Well this is a bummer but as ObiWannaJones put it for all the fanboys creaming their pants at the marvel stuff now how easily you forget they have a mountain of crap under them to get where they are. This is not a good start for DC's new movie launch to be sure but to a certain degree you have to think the execs at Warner aren't worried. Next year they'll have the last laugh when The Dark Knight Rises opens and kicks Avengers ass by so much they'll be able to print their own money.

Dark Knight Rises 2012 bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want this movie to do good, so DC decides to push for a justice league movie. Hell even a Teen titans or Young Justice would do.

I'm a Marvel guy, but like DC as well and go see all the comic based movies so more get made.  Me and the kids are going to see this tonight regardless of reviews to form our own opinion.  We loved Thor, so if folks are saying it's as good or better than that, we will love this as well.  Oh, and shac2846, don't know about DKR outgrossing Avengers.  TDK did so well due to Ledger's performance and untimely passing.  I expect this to come down to BB level box office.

dalgoda 6/17/2011 8:48:31 AM

And yeah, Reynolds should have done Deadpool first.  He was born for that role.

ElBaz13 6/17/2011 8:53:41 AM

Sure, Dark Knight Rises might beat Avengers at the box office. But Marvel still wins in this. That's a battle they might lose but not the war.

Dark Knight Rises makes 700 million worldwide. Avengers makes 600 worldwide. DKR wins. But then, the 500 million made on Avengers will be duplicated in follow up movies. Iron Man 3, Cap 2, Thor 2. Follow up to DKR? GL 2? doesn't look promising. Wonder Woman. No. Flash (see results of GL). Superman by Snyder would be the only follow-up.
