Thanks Wiseguy. I will take your review over those boneheads on Rotten Tomatoes. Most of these critics never read comics so they have no clue. That's why they all praised Dark Knight. I'm still with you on TDK. Not a big fan. Doesn't feel like a comicbook movie. Just an action flick with tights.

The Marvel Studios movies have captured the essence of the comicbook movies more. GL does look like a Marvel Studios type film...meaning more for the fans and less for the regular movie joes.

And actually gopherblaster, we do care about money made, Low box office means less chance of seeing a movie in that franchise again. Poor revenue of GL and kiss a JLA movie goodbye. Even if Dark Knight Rises makes a ton of cash, it has nothing to do with the DCU (also Nolan and Bale don't want a DCU Batman) so that won't have any impact on a JLA film.

 I think you need to give up the dream of a JLA film in the near future.  They just haven't set up the franchise in an orgainized manner.  I'm sure if The Avengers are successful that, down the line, it might be possible.  But, this glowing green bomb of a movie isn't going to help.

BTW, many of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and other sites were written by comic book fans.  I'm a comic book fan and I LOVED the Nolan films.  I'm not sure, do you prefer the bat nipples version?  

Good to see there is no Marvel vs. DC war in the comments, and I was NOT trying to start one, just the opposite, but I just remember seeing the comment saying people were haters bcuz it's DC and then listing some bad Marvel movies, which I thought was a d*ck move...

I will say this...I'm a marvel fanboy big time but I have LOTS of love for DC, especially Batman (still not sure I get why Wise hates the Nolan bat-films...well I do, but I respectfully disagree)...and I have been waiting for-f*cking-ever for a truly badass Supes movie...not to mention DC animation is REALLY good imho...

Personally, I want DC to knock the JLA solo films out of the park because I like to have something besides the Marvel U to be entertained by. Having the DC heroes out there too just deepens the whole epic superhero vibe we all love. Just like Thor started carving out and expanding the fantasy/cosmic side of the Marvel Universe, i feel like even beyond that you have the DC heroes kicking butt in their universe as well...I truly do feel like they are the 2 sides to the comic book "coin", and I love getting into the various mythos on either side...

On that note....I know DC is doing a massive reboot of their books later this year....but can any DC fans on here tell me what would be a smart place to start familiarizing myself with the DCU in terms of TPBs??? Could be Supes, Bats, GL whatever, just a good place to start and branch from, I could give a damn about the looming reboot, I just want to learn about the current DCU and events therein...Thanks ahead of time, and feel free the just leave it in a comment on my profile if not in the comments on here...

I didn't hide the fact that I'm a GL fan so I may be biased a bit but since we all like to quote rottentomatoes' numbers the film may be scoring in the 20s with critics but it's in the 70s as far as people who liked it.

Also it did receive a small round of applause when it was over (I always find it funny that folk do that) something that didn't happen with my initial viewing of Thor or X-Men

Just saw it... liked it. Effects were  pretty amazing, and in 3D looked incredible. Decent story, but I wasn't expecting shakespeare. Do find it kind of intresting when people go back and forth on what makes a "comic book" movie great. Movies should be judged on there own merit. If you liked it, great. X-Men First Class didn't stick to the comic books, but was an excellent film. Dark Knight... loved it. Performances were outstanding, but I can certainly see Wiseguy's point. Not his Cup 'o Tea. Green Lantern, so-so story, but a fun ride. Shoot, that's all I want on a Friday afternoon.

 Much as I hate the movies, I'm sure you're right, Wise, that Transformers will indeed dominate most of the summer, but I REALLY don't know if it will reign that far supreme above Harry Potter.  It'd be interesting to see the worldwide box office returns when it's all said and done.  I'm sure Michael Bay will deliver all the giant twisting metal ball robot fights and all the explosions that people show up for, but I think you might be underestimating the sheer number of HP fans that will go see the last movie multiple times.  Transformers, for as popular as they have been throughout the years, didn't make their creator richer than the queen of England.

Okay, guys, I haven't seen this yet. Explain to me why I should think this is good with a 22% rating? Thor was a 77 and everyone says great, X-Men is an 87 and people say too non-canon.

I'm on the fence about seeing this, and wondering if tghe 3D is worth it....

Dalgoda and Redvector that is a tired old argument. The numbers for batman begins on DVD track to show that TDK was likely going to do what it did. Not to mention the fact that TDK garnered repeat viewings that's how it made the billion dollars. If people went to see Ledgers last performance why did the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus flop? I respect the opinion but we'll see if you guys theory holds up next summer.

And EIBaz13 I'm a huge Green Lantern fan, I'm bummed because i have many friend who went to the midnight show and are saying they didn't enjoy it. I'll see for myself but it's not looking good for a JLA movie, but I think you miss the point. With the TDK a single character raked in a billion dollars. There are no gimmicks, no multiple character arcs from other films or 3D just a good story and it should be proof that you don't necessarily have to make the shared universe a priority to sell tickets. 

If this is Hangover II, Pirates 4  "feed the audience shet and tell them it's chocolate" audience pleasing, then I may skip entirely. I need more than f/x and cgi, as great as those may be.

And I ain't hating on TDKR because I want to see Bane beat the shet out of Batman. That'll be worth my 10 bucks

FUCK JLA, give me WORLD'S FINEST!   Bats and Supes are the only characters most people give a shitt about anyway.

As for this GL film............I loved it!!  Can't believe I was neary convinced by this article to think it would suck!  I know why it's gotten the reviews it's gotten but I couldn't help but really enjoy it!  I think it'll do well, I hope so anyway.  This summer is shaping up to be the best I've ever scene!  get it? scene?

Mark Strong is amazing, just amazing!!

  the 3D was far superior to THOR, but I'm still getting more an more annoyed by the glasses and the darkness they cast on everything so I dunno......improvements are needed.
