It's not so much that I'm picky about the movies I see, but picky about the movies that I overpay to see.  I have better things to spend my money on and for most movies I have enought patience to wait for them on Netflix or Zune.

Pros - not in 3D, Woody Harrelson, did an adequate job covering the source material, Elizabeth Banks was good as Effie

Cons - too long, slow pace, CGI a little sketchy

It was palatable (I'd give it a 6 on a scale of 10), but I wouldn't have seen it if I didn't have tweeners living in my house that were dying to see it. This didn't dawn on me until I saw the movie, but this is a blatant rip off of Steven King's (Richard Bachman if you prefer) Running Man. I wonder if we'll see a lawsuit in the near future given the success of the book and movie!  I think Battle Royale has been infringed upon as well.

@Darthbob

Stephen King himself wrote a review on the book in Entertainment Weekly and acknowledged the nod to his stories and Battle Royale. Sounds like he doesn't mind. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Besides, Hunger Games also swiped from other sci-fi material (Logan's Run, Death Race 2000 and Soylent Green).

I didn't see that article and if he's cool with it then who cares. I guess today even original stories will overlap with other stories, even if it's done inadvertently.

 Saw it casue my wife was dying to see it.  She was dissappointed with it, I really enjoyed it.  Seemed a little long at places, but overall a good movie.  I also enjoyed John Carter.  Thought it was a lot better than what the previews showed.  Almost didn't go because of the previews, but glad I did.

@ElBaz: Gladly would pay a seating surcharge as well for reserved seating.  Theatres, are you listening?

@jp64

Yeah, it the only screen in my city. The theatres holds 16 screens and only 1 of them (the Imax one) has the reserved seating capability. It's pretty neat when you buy the tickets online, they show where you will sit.

I agree, all theatres should have this.

There is one con though. Because everyone has reserved seating....everyone shows up at the last minute!
