Rob Zombie from a creative standpoint has novel ideas, but then when it comes to execution of "shock value", its done in such a sloppy manner he gets lost within his own twisted world rather than story focus (perhaps his sadist ego) and simply brings his movies way down to where the experience is just flat out boring and awkward.  Since Devil's Rejects its like he regressed two steps of what once made him cool.   When its done right, "see the recent Evil Dead", its pays off.

I will say this though, he did direct a pretty good episode of (the wrongfully cancelled last year) CSI: Miami during season 8, because it took him out of his element somewhat given the franchise's flare for visual death scenes because he hold to rely more on execution of story since he was constraint to broadcast tv standards.

This movie made me angry. I rarely feel like a film wasted both my time and money, but this definitely made me regret my decision.

Having graduated from art school, I'm no stranger to terrible art school videos. This is sophomore level pretentiousness.

Hopefully all his talent went into his new album, because it isn't on display in this movie.

With "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devils Rejects" (WTF does that stupid title mean anyway? The Devil rejected them? Oh, so they were GOOD?!?!), Zombie showed that he might not understand the difference between truly scary and just gross unpleasantness.
With his "Halloween" he proved it by stripping one of the most terrifying horror icons of everything that makes him frightening (Hint, Mr Zombie: Myers is frightening because he was an angelic kid from a good family who, for reasons unknown (supernatural?), went nuts and killed his sister. We don't know why he can't be killed or has the enigmatic ability to disappear at will). By giving him the "white trash" family, history of abuse, childhood of torturing animals... Congratulations! You just robbed him off all mystique and turned him into just another serial killer!!!).
As for "Lords of Salem" being a love-letter to his wife? Isn't every movie he makes?
Heck, I don't know why he doesn't just make movies with her in the bedroom. It occurs to me he'd be happier.
Rob... ditch Sheri Moon as your leading lady. She can't act and isn't interesting. Get over it.
Your movies may not instantly improve... but you'd be setting out on the right road.
