Innersanctum- I was kinda thinking the same thing. This review sounds like it should be an F. So why the C??

You lost me at " I can appreciate a remake".  Remakes are the laziest way to make a movie.  I will see this however having said that for lack of anything good out that I have not seen.

Maybe this will come to netflix.  They have the original movie on Netflix so I figure that they can add this one too.  I will watch it then.

The premise of the film is that this is setup because NATO is bankrupt and the United Nations is essentially reduced to a joke and reminder of failed capitalism. The European markets are all bankrupt, the basic idea they are trying to setup is that given our our financial situation currently, we could get into a situation where it would be fiscially IMPOSSIBLE for us to defend ourselves.

That and they claim the North Koreans come up with a weapon that is EMP based which neutralizes our ability to defend ourselves. It is hinted the Russians are involved in a minor way but the review is very accurate. This film never allows you to get invested in the characters long enough to care about them. The ONLY saving grace of the film is the logic and rationale behind which they get the rebels trained in combat. Chris Helmsworths character is a marine with tours in Iraq/Afganastan who is on leave awaiting his next assignment.

He takes command of the escaped youth and teaches them how to become a military unit.

The Powers Booth character from the original is now replaced with a trio of marines that were inserted on purpose to obtain an enemy communications device to hack the enemy comms. It appears that Spokane is the perfect place to do this because the rebels have been so effective. <sarcasm>. So thus is the climatic conflict of the movie. All in all it is very rushed, and has all the emotional depth of a wet fart. Too much playing into teen angst and trying to relate to todays generation. God help them if they ever do have to defend our country because they will find the rest of world would just assume blow your brains out.

If you have not yet, see the original and do our youth a favor and show them. Oh one other point, the film made a HUGE point to note that Obama was a key element in the events coming to past. So he has that going for him.

Like usual your reviews come across like a spoiled crybabay crying over not getting his way. I went and saw this over the weekend and thought it was great. Thye stayed true to the source material and still managed to freshen it up a bit.

Iazarus and jmw2814 I'm glad the crazy neo conservatives have learned to use the internet..thanks for playing!

And Zalder I am equally glad people with the mental disorder of hyper liberalism (much worse than simple retardation) have learned how to use toilet paper. The fact someone was able to post a comment for you here is a huge bonus too. Now anything else or should I send the rest of your self esteem home in a doggie bag?

You make the special ed feel better about themselves.
