I definitely wasn't doubting it either. I'm looking forward to this weekend :)
An amazing movie, to be sure. I saw it a week ago here in Qatar ( still can't believe we got it before you guys), and I was surprised by how solid a cinematic and seriously grounded effort it was despite the obviously fantastic nature of the mythology- I mean, it really fit in with the Hulk and Iron Man world that Marvel had created with the previous movies. I thought Hemsworth was perfectly insufferable and regal in the most fun way, and while I found Hiddleston's Loki a little too grim and not as overtly mischievious as I remember him being from the comics, I applaud his understated performance. Of course, Anthony Hopkins and the (luscious) Natalie Portman were also great.
One thing I did not like was the 3D. It looked better than other upconverted efforts (Clash of the Titan, etc.) but there was still a very unconvincing look to it- I was not wowed and felt cheated out of the premium I paid for the 3D... but thankfully, it did not detract from from my enjoyment.
So, as if I have to tell any of you: GO SEE IT!!! You will not be disappointed.
A lot of fun, well made. I enjoyed it more than the first Iron Man movie whch I really liked. Yep well worth a couple of hours of your life and some overpriced snacks. 3D though I'm still not entirely sure it adds a lot to a live action film, I'll go see it in 2D and see the difference.
Well I was one of the few "yay-sayers" from the beginning especially once Branagh was given the privilege to direct.
I will be seeing it in 3D first since my tickets are for glorious I-Max, even though it's not the Lincoln Square I-Max which is the best one in NYC, I'm sure it'll still be a blast.
I'm actually surprised that Rob didn't give it a C minus. I really enjoyed it, and also felt that the 3D was entirely unnecessary. If you want to read my entire review, I have it up on my blog. The website can be found in my profile here.
I am definately checking this out this weekend. I already have my tickets, Friday night after work.
On a side note, just like DaForce1, I am suprised that Rob didn't give it a worse grade. Somehow I think he would have if he knew he wouldn't get crucified by everyeone's comments over the weekend. It may be a bit slanted for me to say that, but his reviews and my reviews never mesh.
I didn't doubt Thor for a minute. :D
