I know today is Friday but it is THOR-day for me.

All the kudos are very well deserved. The 3D conversion was really well done. If you're a fan or like 3D it is well worth the price. The looks in Asgard and Jotunheim are definitely worth it. And I have seen both 2D and I-Max 3D versions. The 3D, even though not every entire scene was converted, is good and the blurring effect is being over stated because in the 2D is almost as hard to make out some stuff, that is just the pace of the action and not the 3D.

I couldn't pick out Kat Dennings out of a line up but now I'm a big fan, perfect as comic relief.

Jamie Alexander is wonderful but her time is too short. No hint of her and Thor having something except for her maybe a small crush

Branagh did an excellent job of mixing the earth and Asgard stuff. Perfect mixture of action/comedy and drama. A bit like IronMan but with more action. The movie has the look and quality of LOTR I think. Branagh also did a terrific job bringing Asgard to life, better than even I expected. Has a bit of a medieval yet futuristic look

Chris Hemsworth is THOR.  The use of the hammer, just like in the comics. GREAT MOVIE

I will be seeing it in regular 3D tomorrow to see how it compares but after seeing it in  I-Max 3D there probably won't be any comparison

I will be taking my son to see it. His birthday is May 7th which, to his joy, seems to be the target date for many "summer" movies recently. We will not be going to see the 3D version as neither one of us care for the headaches or the "feeling-like-we-got-jipped" emotion afterwards.

Good to see that someone finally comes out and complains about the 3D versions of movies for once. We saw Tron and were pretty disappointed in the 3D tecnology... or lack thereof.

Marvel has a goldmine in the Avengers... it's just a shame they couldn't have done the same with the X-men franchise. Well, maybe someday they will once they get it back from FOX... there's always hope.

I take it you don't read most people's posts around here GothicStorm, becausee that's what most people do on this site, bitch about 3D. So you'll be pleased with most folk here

I don't know about the conversion Wise, I think your fanboy wet pants are blinding you dude (3 times in a weekend?)!! The conversion blew. The movie as a whole though pretty good going to see it again soon. I don't know, did the 3d add something to your experience or do you just enjoy it. Because with Avatar a strong case can be made that especially in IMAX the 3d was quite literally a part of the experience, Thor, or really any of the movies that have hyped 3d (I'm looking at you Tron Legacy) aren't only not neccessary but are really distracting.

Wiseguy 5/6/2011 5:31:18 PM

I don't wear my pants over my face. The conversion was as good as I've seen even if not the entire film was done. But all the stuff outside earth looked damn good in 3D. I was almost mad at myself for settling for the 2D screening halfway through but I had to see the differences for myself. Another thing that IMO folk over state is the darkness or lack of color in 3D, there was no discernable differences as far as I could tell

And shac yes the 3D did add something to my experience, enjoyment. I love all the wide shots of Asgard in 3D and all the action. All of Asgard just came off grander in 3D. And I just always make sure to sit as close to center and as far back as possible.

Btw, I wanted to give kudos to the entire cast but going one by one would take a lot of space. Even the minor roles were great. Loki was terrific hiddleston really nailed him and Elba really did give Heimdall some weight. Pure awesomeness all around

Just saw this movie tonight in 3D.  Now I'm not a 3D fan AT ALL, but this wasn't bad.  I actually thought it enhanced Asgard.  I have to agree with Wise on this one.  I think 3D made the visuals a little better.  Although I still think 3D is a waste of time for the little bit of extra that it gave me.

All in all I'd give this at least an 8/10.  Really well done.  There were a few slow parts mostly when they're on Midgard when I was kind of going...ok already let's move on.  But overall I loved it.  Branagh did a fabulous job.  I'd like to actually see it again as I felt as though I didn't really digest the whole thing.  The after credits part was kind of meh for me.  Didn't give me that wow feeling like the other 3 movies did prior to this one.  I wish I could talk about it cause I'd like to discuss it but I won't.

I didn't see it in IMAX 3d so maybe that had something to do with it. I saw it in real 3d and it didn't make asgard look any grander. Having said that I thought asgard was one of the best 3d rendered environments ever. Beautiful to look at for sure. Plan on buying the art of thor book next week to see some of the designs. Well glad everyone seems to be enjoying it.

Got another buddy that thinks 3D is great.  He sees everything he can in it.  says most are good, some are great, and some really suck.  I do not enjoy 3d (avatar being an exception) and especially do not nike the glasses, and tough to wear over my glasses.  As I have stated most of the people I KNOW WERE NOT CLAMORING FOR HOLLYWOOD TO GET 3D RIGHT.  Avatar was breath-taking, no argument there, but when I saw it again in 2D the level of the two formats was pretty close imho.  If 3D is something you enjoy, damn everyone and anything, and go enjoy sourself.  People likeme that dont like or/hate  3D, try to remember that it is OK if you like 3d, and it is OK if you dont.

Love it!

The hole movie worked. I am sure there will be complainers. But, I am not one of them. Can't wait to see Captain A! Avengers Assemble...NOW :)

Hawkeye was a fun add.

Just got home from seeing it in Ultra AVX 3D.  Great movie!  Another great addition to recent successes of Marvel films.  Chris Hemsworth was perfect and the supporting cast was stellar.  I agree that the 3D was pretty good.  After a few minutes, I didn't even think about it until I had to take off the glasses.  That's usually a sign of a good conversion for me.  It was subtle and not in your face, but when it really shows up, it was just enough.

Spoiler ahead

Can any Avenger comic fans explain the significance the cube at the end has in the Marvel universe?
