I can't wait to see this i looks really entertaining. I have to say though that I haven't been scared from a movie since i was 6 and watched The Exorcist while no one was paying attention.  I mean being young and watching Freddy and Jason was a little spooky there really hasn't been anything to scare me and I would really like to be scared. Hopefully this one will do it. Although i have a feeling I'll stand up half way through the movie and scream at Harry to use a spell or two on the ghost.

I think Daniel Radcliffe is a fine actor, but...uh...did somebody just say that Harry Potter films would have failed if one of the kids was a bad actor?  How do you justify the BILLIONS the Twilight films have made?  AWFUL acting all around.  Those books made J.K. richer than the queen...there is no way those movies were ever going to fail, bad actors or not.  Even as much as Potter fans gripe about and nitpick the f*** out of most of the movies (myself included), not one of them was a flop at the box office.

FIne points Sacrcastic, but the Twilight films are largely seen as a failure in many ways where as the Harry Potter films are considered to be quite good all around.  We've had so many arguments over profits vs. creative and critical success so lets leave it at that.  If you want it to be more specific, the Potter films would "seemed" like a failure to me "personally" if even one of those kids had been a bad actor........happy?

By the way, I think we were agreeing on the point, which is that Dan Radcliffe is a fine actor........

I won't call Daniel Radcliff a fine actor, but nor will I call him bad.  Perhaps he has the potential to be a fine actor. That remains to be seen. As far as the Potter films, I know I'm in  the minority but the IMHO suck about 10 dregree less than Twilight. I can at least watch the pothead films without wanting to vomit my eyes out.

@Tjanson  I too found the swedish version of Let me In far superior to the american film.  The little boys detached nature worked on so many levels... much like Canoe Reeves in the matrix films.

Wish I agree with you their.  I actually enjoyed the dynamic and chemistry that the major players in Harry Potter had.  It was one of the major things that made those films bearable to me.

Isn't it so hard to defend an opinion on one's acting ability though?  I mean, for me a fine actor is someone I can watch on film or tv and not feel like I'm wasting time or cringing at thier every word or movement.  Dan Radcliffe wasn't the best SNL host but he was pretty charming still and I've had the pleasure of seeing him on stage and he was again quite charming and easy to watch.  I guess that's what it comes down to right?  If a person is easy to watch in a role or even as themselves in an interview then they could be considered good, if they are nearly impossible to like in any situation (January Jones I'm cringing at you), then they suck...........and as usual, all that comes down to individual preference.

IMO, I think some people may look at Daniel Radcliffe and claim that he's not a good actor when it's likely a case of those who just don't like him or think that he can't play any other character.  In his defense, he's done so many of these Potter movies virtually back to back for years now that he's been unable to have as much time as he would like to do other things in life let alone do many other acting roles.  I think he's a very good actor, he's certainly played Harry Potter very well which says to me that he has some talent.  In terms of character arcs, it's also not like he was doing the same thing with that character in each film.  His character went through different obstacles both personally and conflicts with his enemies.  Personally, I think it may be a good idea for him to take a little time off from the industry, enjoy other aspects of life and then re-enter the industry by reinventing himself.

Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was great. He will definitely have a future in acting beyond Potter. He did a good job playing a man pretty much at whits end. The movie itself succeeds in a huge creep factor way. If nothing else, the story is very unsettling from a parent's perspective. And I wasn't at all bothered by the ending despite a few critic's dislike for it. It was actually very fitting considering the story itself.
