The first trailer!

By Robert T. Trate     May 07, 2013
Source: Summit Entertainment

Summit Entertainment premiered the first ENDER'S GAME trailer yesterday. Check it out below. Full details on the film and synopsis are posted below.

Synopsis: In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite.  Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School.  Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Based on the best-selling, award winning novel, ENDER'S GAME is an epic adventure which stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, with Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.

ENDER'S GAME arrives in theaters nationwide November 1, 2013

Well, why the fluck not? Harrison Ford is beefing up his sci-fi street cred for the SW sequels.....it's good to see the man back in action

Ender's Game is a good book.  I see nothing to complain about in the trailer.  One of many good looking flicks coming out this year.

Yeech....Harrison Ford sounds like a crotchety old grandfather rambling to his grandchildren more than a grisled military commander motivating Ender into joining the war.

I"m somewhat concerned..  It looks like they are throwing away the best part of the book.  The fact that none of these children knew what they were actually training for.  It sounds like they are telling them straight up from the beginning.  What made the book was learning what Ender actually did.

I hear ya makabriel. I just read the book a few weeks ago and this looks a little different. I think the whole twist at the end will not happen. :(

It still looks good though and will definitely see it.

But do we need to know about all of the Oscar nomnations/winners that are in this movie? I guess it's a minor pet peeve of mine. I hate it when trailers go crazy on all the Oscar calibre cast they have in their movie. I don't think that will attract more people. A lot of Oscar winners have been in crappy movies in the past. Sorry to rant about this but this trailer overdid it with the Oscar cred. I almost thought they would also have "Academy Award winner Best Score James Horner", "Academy Award winner best SFX", blah blah....

I like what I'm seeing.

Wasn't expecting it to be 100% loyal but one thing Wyldstaar said earlier in the week about how Card was very specific about how the books be adapted gives me hope that all in all it should stay fairly true to the source

From what i've seen on this I am even more excited.  And I hate doing that.  I like to temper my excitment.  I think Ford is great for this.  I see Graff as more of a Frustrated Military Commander.   In my head the way I read his voice this is it.  He knows this is Humanity's last shot.

But thats just me.  I could point out Petra, and the room he walked into i'm hoping is Dragon Army with the mismatch of uniforms.  If anything this will be an exciting movie.

I really enjoyed the book Ender's Game but thought it should have ended there as a standalone book.  The trailer looked good and this will be a theater visit for me.

ElBaz, the whole Academy Award this and that was a bit much and unnecessary, I agree.

Looks awesome though. I'm gonna have to read the novel before hand.

I read a quote from Card himself that said the audience would know the secret, but the children still would not.  It doesn't matter how real the simulations look there would be no way the kids could ever suspect the secret if they don't know that the ansible exists.
