May 22, 2009
Mania presents the conundrums to be touched upon in this season of ABC's LOST(2009)

Greetings fellow LOST junkies, and welcome to 32 some weeks of the DT’s. Charlie Pace only thought heroine withdraw was tough, but that’s because he never got hooked on his own show.
As long as we all take the first step and admit that we’re addicted to this show, that’s a good first step. Another important thing to remember is we’re all our own support group here. You all have my personal email, (Joe@JoeArtistWriter.com) so if things get rough, feel free to reach out to me. I’ll be there for each of you should the need arise.
Now, there’s no reason we have to kick this thing cold turkey, and that’s why I decided to address some of the concerns and theories that we as a group came up with during this last week.
You can answer one, or all of the poll questions listed - just remember; there are no right and wrong answers. (Unless your answer is diametrically opposed to my own – in which case you will be wrong.)
Let’s begin, shall we?
Jacob
1) Jacob is good, even though that’s exactly what they want us to believe.
2) Jacob is evil. The evidence is too compelling for him to prove good, ergo, Jacob is a nasty son of a bitch
3) There is no good or evil on this island. Only shades of grey.
Jacob Touched Lil Kate and Lil Jimmy Ford
1) By touching these two, and having them both promise they will no longer steal, or seek vengeance, Jacob has altered the history of both Kate and Sawyer, possibly giving them both squeaky clean lives by 2004.
2) Jacob’s touch will change the future, but Kate and Sawyer will still have stole and conned by adulthood.
3) Jacob should know better than to touch little children.
Juliet, Wherefore Art Thou, Juliet?
1) Juliet will return next season as a semi-regular, the bomb reset her fate too.
2) Juliet may return in a flashback, but her character is dead.
3) Juliet will look hot, even if she’s an alien in the new “V.”
Doooooooooooooouuuuuchhhhe!
1) Radzinsky is a douche.
2) Radzinsky is a giant douche.
3) Radzinsky is a giant douche. His douchery is legendary, and I would never want him on my team or the opposing team during a friendly softball game
4) I love Radzinky, which it turns out, makes me a pretty big douche myself
Faraday
1) Daniel Faraday knew he was supposed to be shot when he entered the Others camp, firing a live round, and counting to three.
2) Daniel Faraday knew he was supposed to be shot when he entered the Others camp, firing a live round, and counting to three, but he had no idea his mom would be the triggerman.
3) Daniel Faraday had a bad plan, and got shot.
Smokey
1) Smokey and The Man in Black are one in the same, and any time we’ve seen what we assumed was Smokey, it was The Man in Black.
2) The Man in Black can assume shapes, but so can Jacob.
Vincent
1) Vincent will figure prominently into Season Six (bark once for yes)
3) Vincent will figure not prominently into Season Six (bark twice for no)
WAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLTTTT!!!!!!
1) We’ll definitely see Walt in Season Six. He was established as too big a character to leave him on the street corner of his school in New York.
2) Get over it Joe, we’re never seeing Walt again. (And that goes for Libby too.)
Lapidus
1) Frank Lapidus will prove worthy to be a candidate for Ilana’s team.
2) Frank does not have the right stuff, and will be killed off.
Lapidus Part Two
1) Frank Lapidus is so cool, he will single-handedly bring back the open shirt, grey chest hair look for middle-aged men across this great land of ours,
2) Oh Christ, please no!
The Real John Locke
1) The real John Locke was killed in a seedy L.A. motel by Ben Linus, and will never be seen or heard from again
2) The real John Locke has been slowly infiltrated by island forces from the beginning, and hasn’t been himself since he was first scanned by Smokey.
3) The real John Locke will land safely, but still paralyzed, in LAX, in 2004.
Sun and Jin’s Baby
1) Sun and Jin won’t have a baby, because if they land in 2004, they’ll never get pregnant.
2) Who cares, we haven’t seen that kid enough to have any feelings for her.
The Shephard Men
1) The Shephard Men have a long and storied history with that island.
2) It’s just a coincidence that Jack, his dead dad, and his half-nephew have all visited.
Jack’s Grandfather
1) Jack is his own grandfather
2) No freaking way. That’s reaching, even for the time travel loving nerds.
Jaters vs Skaters
1) Kate will eventually hook up with Jack and only Jack.
2) Kate will eventually hook up with Sawyer and only Sawyer.
3) Kate is a fickle little slut, and she’ll do whatever she wants to do
4) Because of Jacob’s touch, Kate will be married to her childhood sweetheart, and therefore won’t make a play for either guy.
Charlie
1) Because the plane never crashes, Charlie Pace will make a few more appearances this coming seasons.
2) Charlie’s not coming back, and DriveShaft sucks.
Claire
1) What’s the deal with Claire. Is she dead or what?
2) Seriously, what’s her deal anyway?
Sayid
1) Sayid said it himself, he cannot be saved. However this is interpreted, bad things are coming Sayid’s way.
2) Sayid will be saved. Jacob will see to it.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes
1) Beneath the Planet of the Apes is an overlooked movie classic. It’s a worthy sequel to one of the greatest Sci-Fi motion pictures of all times.
2) I hate it, which makes me a bigger douche than Radzinsky.
The Others
1) The Others are the child survivors and offspring of the original 815 crash.
2) Nice theory AmishPirate, but you’re wrong.
Adam and Eve
1) Rose and Bernard are Adam and Eve
2) No duh.
They’re Coming
1) Jacob’s last words are in reference to the Oceanic passengers he touched. They will come to save him.
2) Jacob is referring to Ilana and Bram
3) Jacob is referring to a totally different group of people then the above.
LAX
1) We will start Season 6 with our heroes landing safely in 2004 on the tarmac at LAX. The trick will be how the writers bring them back to the island.
2) We’ll see them crash again – in 2004 again
3) They will be stuck in 1977. That explosion meant nothing.
Ok fellow LOST junkies. That’s all for now. There are plenty of other questions I’ve got planned, but if this gets enough response, I’ll have a new poll next week. Remember, one day at a time. Stay strong, and Namaste. – Joe.
Look, the past does not change. Scenes from the past are the past, not an altered past. There is no such thing as an altered past. Dead is dead and past is past. You can't change it. By extension, you can't change the future either (but you haven't seen the future so how would you know?).
The bomb couldn't possibly have killed the main characters, yet if they were in the vicinity when it went off, they'd die. So... it triggered another time shift (hopefully the last). Probably they will end up in the 'present' but maybe the 'future'. But who time shifted? Only those near the blast? Was Sayid close enough or does he stay in the 70s?
I hope the Jacob/MiB connection is something more complex than good and evil. Better if they're personifications of some philosophies that are meant to remain balanced. Like, Jacob representing nurture and MiB representing the need to cull the weak so the flock survives. Basically opposing forces that work best together. With either one out of the way, it's a disaster. But dead is dead and Jacob is dead. Resolution: we need a new Jacob.
