Ando finds himself the target of an assassin!

Creative Staff
Writer/Artist: Megumi Osuga
Translation: Stephen Paul
Adaptation: Stephen Paul

What They Say
What do you do when the city's savior is actually a devil in disguise...?
As Ando learns to use his powers effectively, he must decide whether or not to oppose Inukai. A decision made much harder when it could cost him his life.

The Review!
Maoh continues with more intrigue and more violence. While the first volume had people trying to kill each other, people actually are killed in Volume 2. Most of the bloodshed comes at the hands of Semi, an assassin. Originally sent to kill Ando, Semi strikes up an odd relationship with him when the orders to kill Ando are abruptly rescinded. Eventually, the two part ways, but not after Semi opens Ando's eyes to the shadowy forces out to manipulate everyone within the city.

In the meantime, Inukai is at work "cleaning up" the city, but his methods turn so extreme that he winds up briefly in police custody. As he slips out of the law's grasp, he demonstrates that he is a force to be reckoned with -- in more ways than one. Although Inukai is the public face of Grasshopper, the barista from Duce lurks in his shadows, wielding his own supernatural power to aggrandize Inukai in the eyes of the masses. Yet, it is unclear who really is in control on the Grasshopper or the Nekota side. With Ando's true potential not yet realized and Grasshopper's true intent still a mystery, the story is building toward a major confrontation, and I'm looking forward to it.

In Summary:
More violence, more intrigue, and more questions surrounding Grasshopper. Despite his mysterious ventriloquism power, Ando proves himself to be no hero when an assassin comes after him. Yet even as he strives to get back to a "normal" life, he discovers more and more facts about Grasshopper that push him toward what is a looking to be an explosive confrontation with Inukai.
