Mark Steven Johnson: 'Preacher' too big for the big screen

"That to me is my favorite book. It's one of the few that I pick up and read it front to back, all nine graphic novels, I just love it so much," says Mark Steven Johnson of 'Preacher', which he's now developing as an HBO series. "It's one of those you can't make into a movie because Preacher is too big, it's got too much story. It wouldn't be right to cut it. So my dream has been to do it at HBO. Because they'll let you do it the way it should be done. They've got the balls to do it. You couldn't do it on network TV and it's too much for a movie. For me, every issue of that should be an hour show. You could make a five- or six-year show." More...
