Marvel Studios and their president Kevin Feige has some momentum on their side after the success of Iron Man so it can come as no surprise that they have yet another comic adaptation on the line-up, though it's not centered around a big franchise. HR is reporting that the studio will be adapting the comic Runaways for the big screen with original comic co-creator Brian K. Vaughn set in charge of adapting the screenplay. Feige will be producing the flick.

Plot Concept:
"Runaways" follows a group of teenagers who find that some family secrets are bigger than others when they discover their parents are actually super-villains. Running away from their homes, the teens band together and begin a journey of discovery, both of their parents' origins and of their own inherited powers, while trying to make up for the evil done by their folks.

Awesome news, Runaways is a fantastic book. I always thought this would make a great movie. But my question is about the director. Could Robert Rodriquez pull this off? Whatever happened to the Powers movie that was announced a few years ago?

Joss Whedon should be the director. No question about it IMO.

I love this book and agree that it would be a kick ass movie. Whedon, who's on the book now has been good, so I second the motion to have him direct.

Isn't one of the character's dad, or it it later on, a major villain in the Marvel Universe? I wonder if they'll introduce a major villain and have this be part of the same universe as Iron Man, Hulk, and Avengers. If they make their own movie universe Marvel would be the shit...sort of like the 616 is the comics mainstream universe.

The comic is so good, and BKV doing the script, this can only bring awesomeness to the screen

'MrJawbreakingEquilibrium' i second how cool it is that Marvel is placing their films in the same universe. Not only does it allow awesome cameos, like we got in Iron Man and 'will' get in Hulk, but it makes the films themselves a bigger entity which makes for bigger stories with everything situated in the same 'world'. That makes sense right? :)
And oh yea, a BKV script directed by Whedon based on Runaways.....i am there.
