Marvel's hoping to strike gold with the Silver Surfer again as they have a new miniseries running for the former herald starting in the middle of February. The five issue series is being penned by New York Times bestseller Greg Pak with the up and coming artist of Stephen Segovia. Silver Surfer has been one of the most iconic Marvel characters for decades and made his way to film earlier in the last decade though not quite as many fans have wanted him to be. He's had several series and one-shots over the years and like Submariner, is a character that Marvel keeps trying to build into a top tier mainstream character that can hold his own book.

Plot summary: The dreaded messenger of the world-eater returns to Earth, in the character-defining epic showing the Silver Surfer as you has never seen him before! But what fate does the High Evolutionary hold for the Surfer?! The wielder of the power cosmic has survived many battles, but can anything prepare him for what lies ahead?

Which series did you enjoy the Silver Surfer in the most? I have to keep my heart with the Ron Marz run way back in the day.

Marvel has sent along several pages of artwork for the first issue to check out as well:

It would be even better if this miniseries led up to a Silver Surfer movie. Oh well, we can always dream can't we?

I might actually give this a try. I am a sucker for the High Evolutionary. As for writers I prefer Steve Englehart and Stan Lee. Ron Marz was not one of my favorite Surfer writers although I liked some of his Thor stuff. His Green Lantern was awful as well.

Silver surfer has been pretty boring for awhile.  I liked title back in the 90's better.

The art looks terrific, hope the story matches it in quality

Silver Surfer should be in space...I like it better when he's doing Cosmic things and wreaking havoc on those who deserve it. He's best in those roles...Marvel should go back to that....

Its the Surfer... I'll be on it definitely

Why are the bad guys wearing Iron Man-esque suits?
