Marvel futures round up: 'Thor' animated feature announced

Marvel posted its Q3 Earnings Statements today. It was a good quarter, with most of the earnings boost coming from a little thing called 'Spider-Man 3'.

As is typical, the report contains insights about upcoming projects for film and TV. Interesting highlights: filming on 'Punisher War Zone' is underway. An animted 'Thor' feature is in the works for 2009.

Films being produced by Marvel:

• Iron Man - for release May 2, 2008
• Incredible Hulk - for release June 13, 2008
• Ant-Man - Writer and director engaged
• Captain America - Writer engaged
• Thor - Writer engaged (although we all know director Matthew Vaughn is attached as well)
• The Avengers - Writer engaged

Properties set up at other studios:

• Punisher 2 - Principal photography underway
• X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Slated for May 1, 2009
