Your Captain America Update from

Marvel's Kevin Feige Braindumps on 'Thor', 'Captain America', 'The Avengers' and more! Plus: A new photo from 'Jonah Hex'. 'Iron Man 2' set visits teased. 'Deadpool' discussed. A signal emitted from a neighboring planet, repeating over and over, it's your Comics2Film 9.6.5!

Apologies to everyone who is looking for the Marvel News Blitz part of today's column. The Blitz was excerpted from a transcript from another website. It turns out that website jumped the gun in posting their transcript and was asked to take it offline. As a courtesy, we've edited out the portions of the column based on that transcript, and will restore them when the source site is clear to re-post it.

Reynolds on DEADPOOL Again

Ryan Reynolds talked to HitFix last week about the 'Deadpool' spinoff and dropped a few hints about story details.

"I'm intimately involved with it.  We're just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff.  But, it's going to be just like the comic books," Reynolds said.  "I'm gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that's the goal.  And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible."

Thanks to MutantNinjaLoungeSinger for the submission.

JONAH HEX Steaming Forward

An old-timey boat from the filming of JONAH HEX

A recent article in the St. Charles Herald Guide gives fans another look a the currently filming 'Jonah Hex' movie. Mid-May the production has built a scale replica Civil War-era ironclad river gunboat in the waters off Bayou Gauche near St Charles Parish in Louisiana.

Filming took place there from May 11 - May 15.

Interestingly, the city of St. Charles Parish is said to be somewhat discriminating in which productions it allows onto their territory and 'Jonah Hex' was only permitted to film there after assurances that the production would not interfere with the local residents.

Clifton Collins, Jr. Confirms THOR Meet

Last week actor Clifton Collins, Jr. got some attention with some mysterious Twitter posts about a 'Thor' meeting. MTV Splash Page chatted with the actor about his involvement with the film project thus far.

"I had a little meeting. I think I can say that much," Collins told MTV News. Beyond that the actor revealed little, saying nothing about what role he tried out for or whether-or-not he has been hired. He did offer plenty of gushing praise for Kenneth Branagh and assured everyone the movie would be big.

Can't wait for that movie Avengers.

Thor looks promising so far.

Another Hulk movie? Hell yeah!!!

Wiseguy 6/5/2009 7:59:48 AM

Excited? That's the understatement of the year.

Thanks Kevin for putting my mind at ease on what Capt. America you're doing, but please get an American actor.

Love everything he said about Thor, especially the part about not having him talk to a lamp post and not make him an idiot. There's enough room in cultural differences to get a joke or two in. I'm assuming Thor will be mostly in Asgard and also that Loki will have a major role in The Avengers film since he threw that "multiple franchises" in there.

By the way, I'm still waiting for the official announcement that Hemsworth will be the Odinson.

The team movie Marvel needs to do in the future but probably won't is The Thunderbolts. Bunch of ex and really current bad guys being forced to work for the side of good. That could be beyond awesome. Of course anything Marvel has the posssibility of being awesome if treated right.

Thor: What manner of conveyance didst thou emerge from?

Guy: It's a Mustang, dude.

Thor: I have seen many Mustangs, and this is verily not like one I have ever encountered in all my travels. It doth growl mightly at me. It must be posessed by some evil minion of the dark realm. I shall smite it with Mjolnir. (CRASH!) There, It doth quiet now.

Guy: Dude, you just smashed my car! I'm going to sue you!

Thank goodness this scene won't be in the Thor movie.

"Put the Master in the Piece, Attack it like a Beast!" ~~ LiL Wayne (Kobe Bryant song)  Listen to it.

I totally agree Wiseguy. They need to cast an AMERICAN actor to play Captain AMERICA. Would be like if they got a Icelandish guy to play Union They are both symbols of a country and you need to stay faithful to that symbol. Sure i know someone from another country can ACT American..but i think they need to BE American.

So glad he put the Will Smith rumors to bed!!! Was getting tired and nervous about that.

Great news day!! All good stuff!

Make my movies MARVEL!

As far as the nationality of the Actor playing Cap....WHO   GIVES    A    FUCK!!??

As long as THE CHARACTER is American, and The actor plays him with an AMERICAN accent, WHO HONESTLY GIVES A SHIT...This is shaping up to ber the most rediculous fanboy debate since....well since ever.

"I think Whoever plays Superman should be Kryptonian, I mean how can they let an Earthling play such a symbolic person of Kryptonian culture and heritage"

Sounds stupid right, WELL Caps America is as fictional as Krypton....

jeezus crimeny!!!!

I think its great that Marvel seems to be getting their movies under control and really thinking about what they are doing.  For that past couple years it seemed that they were rushing to put certain characters out just to make a movie and not take their time.

Hopefully the look of Thor will have a more "Lord of the Rings" vibe to it.  Kinda dark and grimy.  Can you just imagine Thor flying around in a big red cape and blue outfit?

So much Marvel news and every bit of it good!!! Mr. Feige sounds like a class act and has the proper attitude for all the characters. Now I can't even wait for the next Marvel movie!

jedibanner 6/5/2009 10:38:46 AM

I think I'm with the mentality of who gives a crap where the actor comes from to play Cap. America.

Heck, that statement  would be the last thing on earth Cap would ever if it matters where you come from, that's the most anti-american thing you could say. You don't have to be born in America to BE an american ''sipderhero''.....last time I heard something this racist was during WW2.

You were around in WW2?  You must be pretty old?
