I said it before and I'll say it again....

Alex Skarsgard played a real (as in, NON-FICTIONAL) American Hero in the form of Brad Colbert.

He played the Marine in HBO's Generation Kill, which is the non-fiction story about one of the very first US military units into Iraq in 2003. It's about a team of recon Marines in un-armored vehicles rolling into heavily defended town and villages, being ordered to take an airfield GUARDED BY TANKS, all on their own. It was so close-to-true, by the way, that one of those Marines in the unit starred in it as himself!

So can you explain to me why, after playing a role that is a REAL American hero, why wouldn't he be good enough to play a FICTIONAL one?

(BTW, Skarsgard is who I want to see in that part, but I don't give a damn one way or another what the nationality is of an actor playing ANY part.)

I don't care what nationality the actor is for Cap, as long as he wasn't born in Suckville.

Well if  I'm a racist because I always advocate in favor of an American actor being cast as Captain America,  then I'll wear that proudly. I especially want an American for this role but I'm always advocating for American actors to get any role that is based on an American, I did for Batman and pretty much for any other American based comic book character. I wanted Skarsgard for Thor. I also argue for filming all these films here in the States and so on and so on.

Racist may not be the right word though because like I said on an earlier thread, I'd rather have the original black Captain America story/character before casting a foreigner. So racist doesn't fit, maybe xenophobe, nah not that either, ok maybe some. More like populist protectionist. Yeah I think that's more like it. And I'll wear it proudly

Captain America = an American actor plain and simple.  Captain Britian = an English actor.  I'm sorry if a character is supposed to be the symbol of a specific nationality, then damn it all let them be a memeber of that Nationality.

Well I guess they pulled the avengers movie info...

I'm all for the WHITe POWER you guys got going on for Captain America but the actor don't have have to be American.  Look at Bale, guy can pull off the american accent and he's white.  So basically any white dude that can speak American is good for Cap.

MutantNinjaLoungeSingr 6/6/2009 9:24:32 PM

John Peter's originally offered the role of Superman to Will Smith, and he turned it down because the character is white.  He apparently didn't care for the back-lash that he got for playing James West.

So even if Will were offered the role, he probably wouldn't have taken it anyway for much of the reason why a lot of people do not want him to have the role...

Of course, I thought Micheal Clarke Duncan did a pretty decent job as Kingpin... so who knows...

I agree WarCry Alex Skarsgard would be a outstanding choice. Even tho he's swedish. Generation Kill was a great series and he'd be a great Steve Rogers Bar None !

But again as long as the actor is blonde - white and has the build . I don't care who it is. No Will Smith nonsense and no other tricks.

And Yay for Ryan Reynolds being totally into making this Deadpool movie. He's gonna kick ass ! I bet we will see his traditional outfit too watch and wait
