to Greybiship: Thor himself bellowed it for all Midgard to hear (and no, I don't think word is official).

'Thor' is set to break out in several directions in 2009-2011. The latest plan, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is for the god of thunder to be the subject of a 26-episode animated series to be developed and self-produced by Marvel Animation.
However, fans will first see the Norse hero in the upcoming animated DVD 'Hulk Vs' and then in the planned 2010 live-action film, which is to be directed by Kenneth Branagh. The animated show is slated to bow in fall the same year. Marvel has also previously announced plans for a feature-length animated DVD called 'Thor: Son of Asgard' and it's unclear how the series will effect that. Finally, the live-action Thor is also expected to appear in 'The Avengers' and the toon Thor will appear in 'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes'.
According to The Reporter, the animated series "will follow Thor, the Norse god of thunder, as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show will take place in various worlds -- from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids -- and will include many of the comic's supporting cast, including Balder the Brave, the Warriors Three and Thor's evil adopted brother, Loki."
The announcement continues the trend of Marvel producing ancillary fare in animation to coincide with feature films. Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Iron Man and Wolverine have all received recent toon shows that coincided with their big-screen appearances.

HELL YEAH. It's about time, let's get the GoT out there so some of the doubters can maybe learn to appreciate the Odinson. Love everything Thor. I have replicas of Mjolnir 616 and Ultimate versions and Stormbreaker, love it
Can we please get a DareDevil series, something in the vein of Batman TAS
I swear I thought I saw an announcement, Greybishop, but you may be right. All the articles I found say that he's in talks to direct, then suddenly that he is directing. I find no articles pointing to an official announcement. I would think it is a done deal, though. If he were not doing it, I think he would have come forward by now and said something.
Im sure like all Marvel's recent forays into animation that the artwork will be cheap and second rate. They'll probably make Blake a one-dimensional teanager with stupid dialog and stupid teenage freinds and plots as lame as the recent Avengers animated DVD. If Marvel was smart and truly cared about the quality of their animation theyd open there own studio and hire decent wrters and artists! GET OFF YOUR LAZY BLOATED RICH BUTTS MARVEL!
I like THOR and all but this seems like a Bad Idea to me. I think a THOR series by it's very nature would end up being overly dramatic! I smell another Silver Surfer toon debacle i.e.: Too Heady! The only way to save it would be to cut out 90% of the Asgard stuff! 90% that's the only way!
This sounds great to me. A Thor series set in Asgard will be a lot of fun. With the attention Marvel are receiving these days I'm sure the series will be handled with the respect it deserves. Verily!
Hell ya! About time Thor is getting some major attention. I am glad I stuck with Thor thru the ups and downs and cancelations. Good time to be a Thor fan!
I hope the show is one continuing story and not each ep has to be one story each.
Did I miss the official announcement of Kenneth Branagh as director for Thor? I've seen dozens of "rumoured to be in talks" stories and even some that say he has signed, but I can't find an official announcement from Marvel or even from Branagh himself.
Anyone?
