Marvel releasing new Avengers collectors edition

If you thought you knew the history of the Marvel Universe, you may very well be wrong! As hordes of readers snapped up issues the initial two issues of New Avengers: Illuminati, they were thrilled to learn about a secret cabal of heroes (Black Bolt, Iron Man, Charles Xavier, Dr. Strange, Namor and Mr. Fantastic) and their intervention into the Marvel Universe’s biggest events. With both issues selling out quickly, Marvel is making available a collected edition of the first two issues, just before the May release of New Avengers: Illuminati #3, continuing the smash mini-series as it races towards its shocking conclusion. With writers Brian Michael Bendis (New Avengers, Mighty Avengers) and Brian Reed (Ms. Marvel) teaming with artist Jim Cheung (Young Avengers) on each issue, you can expect that issue #3, featuring the Illuminati battling the Beyonder, will leave you reeling!

“Illuminati continues to impress me,” said BrokenFrontier’s Kert McAfee after reading the second issue. “If you’re looking for a book filled with some Marvel Universe historical significance, this is a highly recommended series.”

SilverBulletComicBooks’ Geoff Collins expressed a similar sentiment, saying, “This really would be a great ongoing title.”

For the fans who missed the first two issues of New Avengers: Illuminati, make sure to pick up your copy of New Avengers Illuminati: Secret History, so you’re not the only one left out of the loop!

I know a lot of readers are having trouble adjusting to the changes the rippled through the Maevel Universe after CW.... but I am hooked. They are well written, inpactful and make some characters that were becoming stale interesting again by injecting a breath of life. This Illuminati arc, where we start to see the far reaching and in some cases devestating political games and plots amazing... but keep in mind that the whole point of CW was to clear the deck, and now the point of the aftermath is to build Tony Stark's house of cards..... just so the HUlk can topple it in WWH.

I'm convinced that Brian Bendis is NOT the guy to be writing any Avengers stories.

He's just TOO counter-cultural and art-poppy.

Put someone on the books who understands the characters like Roger Stern or John Byrne. Geeze, where have all the good writers gone?
