Unsubstantiated Rumor of the Week

Thanks to everyone that has sent in the "Josh Holloway is talking to Marvel" rumor that's making the rounds. We've looked at the original report that sparked the rumor and can't really understand why it's gained so much traction on the internet. At the moment we've found nothing that lends any credibility to the Holloway report so we're not going to report on it unless more solid info materializes.

Kristen Stewart is Maybe in WANTED 2

Back in April, reports surfaced that Twilight star Kristen Stewart had taken some meetings with director Timur Bekmambetov about taking over the female lead in Wanted 2 after Angelina Jolie bailed on the project.

Now Movie Hole caught up with the actress and asked her if she is, in fact, taking the role.

"Right now, I have two projects lined up," Stewart, told Movie Hole. "I'm doing On the Road this Summer and then I'm doing Breaking Dawn. So other than that I have nothing nailed down."

So that does little to clarify the situation. She could still be circling the part or not at this point, but clearly Stewart is not denying that there have been conversations about it, nor is she ruling out future involvement.

Favreau Comments AVENGERS, IRON MAN 3 Developments

MTV Splash Page reports that director Jon Favreau appeared recently on the "The Kevin and Bean Show" from the Los Angeles based radio station KROQ. If you're not in L.A. you may be familiar with Kevin and Bean for their role in the Christian Bale Terminator: Salvation meltdown. The actor appeared on the show after the "Bale Out" went viral to apologize for his on-set histrionics.

Favreau said that actor Robert Downey Jr. will not appear as a cameo in Thor or Captain America next summer.

"It'll be very interesting to see how the Marvel Universe branches off. All of these movies are going to be taken into account for The Avengers in two years," Favreau said.

"I'm not sure where The Avengers goes," continued Favreau. "There is no shooting draft written yet. It's gonna be a big undertaking for Marvel to actually incorporate what happened in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America [and] The Hulk. All that has to inform one unified vision in The Avengers. It's a very exciting prospect. And certainly, Tony Stark is not going to be involved in any of the movies until that one."

Favreau also talked about employing 3D technology for Iron Man 3.

"I have been testing the [3D] gear out because we are discussing whether or not we want to do it on the next film," he said. "I know Marvel is looking into it on their movie. but for me personally for Cowboys and Aliens we are looking at what the gear can hold up to because we are shooting out in the desert, which has never been done before with this type of gear. But I love watching movies that are done well in 3D; I think it is very captivating."

PHANTOM Photo Gallery

Comics Continuum has posted a gallery of over 25 images from The Phantom, a four-hour event airing Sunday, June 20 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on SyFy.

Continuum also provides the network's description of the mini-series:

Four hundred years ago, Kit Walker, sole survivor of a pirate raid, washed up on a remote Bangalla beach. Fashioning a costume from a pirate's plunder, Kit became The Phantom, devoting himself to fighting injustice. Today, handsome young Kit, twenty-first in the family line, is living in the States with his aunt and uncle when his father is killed at the hands of the Singh Brotherhood in Bangalla. Kit says goodbye to his life as a free-spirited youth, returns to the mysterious Skull Cave of his ancestors, utters the sacred oath of generations, and inherits the mantle of his father.

Ryan Carnes stars as The Phantom and his alter ego in this re-imagined version of the classic comic book transported to present day. Isabella Rossellini guest stars as Lithia, the head of an experimental mind control program. Also starring are Sandrine Holt as The Phantom's trusted advisor, and Cameron Goodman as Walker's love interest, Renny.

Victoria's Secret Congratulates Rumored TRANSFORMERS 3 Model

Neither Paramount Pictures nor Michael Bay have confirmed the rumors that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has locked down the role of replacement eye-candy for Transformers 3, but Victoria's Secret seems to be confirming the news.

Via Facebook, the retailer is congratulating their top model on securing the role via the video below.

The film is scheduled to start filming very soon for a July 2011 release.

Thanks to anemis for the submission.

First Look: Marvel Super Heroes 4D

Can't wait for The Avengers? Do today's 3D movies lack all the dimensions you're craving from your filmed entertainment?

Madam Tussauds of London is set to launch their new exhibit this month: Marvel Super Heroes 4D. In addition to the expected wax figure displays depicting Marvel movie characters, the centerpiece of the exhibit is a 4D movie in which Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine do battle on the London streets. Reportedly fans will see many more Marvel characters in the film as well.

The even plays out as a 3D movie on a "360 degree screen". The fourth "D" are 70 in-theater effects that help enhance the realism of the experience which include wind machines, ground vibrations and even seat cushion prods that happen when Wolverine stabs stuff.

Check it out!

Rob, why not report an unsubstantiated rumor as an unsubstantiated rumor instead of just keeping stuff from us. Just my opinion on the matter, I know this is your turf :)

Stewart in Wanted? They're going to have to load this girl up with Red Bulls cause she just doesn't emote any energy whatsoever

I think Favreau is overthinking The Avengers. I don't think you need to incorporate everything from the previous films into the Avengers. Some things are exclusive to that character. For example, you don't really need Peppers to appear in Avengers. I want it all to meld together perfectly but "continuation" doesn't have to be perfect, at least for me. It isn't in the comics. Bottom line is that it makes sense and as long as there aren't any major goofs I think we can be pretty forgiving and of course as long as the story kicks ass

Just days before the rumor of Huntington-Whiteley being cast for Transformers I said that any Victoria Secret model could do Megan Fox's job, hey just patting myself in the back :)

I'd love to experience that Madam Tussauds exhibition of Marvel 4D it looks pretty damn cool. Maybe I should go ahead and get a passport

Wiseguy- watch the runaways movie if you havent already- Kristen was great as a young joan jett so I'm at least willing to give her a chance in wanted 2

Marvel movies galore- I guess the avengers movie will show us how the team will form- that means sheild will proabably have a strang appearance in the movie- with so many charachters involved with this I'm betting the Avengers will be at least 3 hours long

Victoria secrets transformers 3- lol I dont wanna say it but I will- I wonder if Victoria Secxrets will come out with a new bra celebrating the movie. Push a button and the bra automatically tranforms into- WAIT FOR IT- A READY MADE COLLAR!!! (Chain Leash not inclueded) :))

The Phantom- I saw the preview for this on the syfy channel just the other day- It will be a waste of time but thankfully I wont have to pay for it since it will be airing on tv. (Thank God)

Can't say I really care much for Kristen Stewart.  She's an okay actress at best and a terrible actress when it comes to the Twilight movies.  I heard this morning that she has now compared the problems she's had with the paparazzi to being raped.  That's just the most ridiculous statement that I've ever heard!  How can anyone possibly compare having their picture taken by pushy photogs to actually being RAPED!

AmbyWarhol 6/1/2010 7:59:21 AM

 wow... 4D is like... Smellivision!

wessmith1966 6/1/2010 8:49:00 AM

The SyFy channel has completely destroyed The Pahantom with the horrible "re-imagining" of the costume. When I first heard about the movie/series I was excited, but then remembered how the network completely messed up Flash Gordon. Well, they've done it again with The Phantom. What's the worst thing you could do the Phantom? Chnage his uniform. It's just too cool. So, what did SyFy do? They changed the uniform. It's the aboslute worst I've seen since the awful Daredevil and Thor costumes from the old Hulk made-for-TV movie. SyFy should forget about producing their own stuff and just show golden oldies. Either that, or put people in charge of their productions who haven't recently had a creative lobotomy.

Kristen Stweart was incredible in Runaways. Maybe it's just the material and directing that's horrible in the Twilight series because she's been awful, or at best mediocre B-movie level, in those movies.

I have complete faith in Marvel's movies leading up to and including Avengers. Marvel, in their self-produced films, has shown incredible respect for the history of their characters and fan expectations. They've found ways to balance those things with making the movies accessible to all moviegoers. Marvel realizes it has a golden goose with the Avengers universe films and I doubt they'll drop any dud eggs along the way.

I'm going to London in the fall so I will definitely go see the new Marvel shows at MT's! That's a bonus for the trip for me.

Ok, so you're reporting that there's a rumor... that you're not going to report?  Okay, then....

The Phantom looks a bit lame to me.

Stewart in Wanted 2? No thanks.

Could care less about a VS model in TF3. If they're taking out Fox, don't just replace her with a vacuous, non-acting POA. Replace her with an actress who can actually contribute something to the movie. Or work out your issues with Fox and bring her back!

I hope Marvel is further along than Favs gives them credit for. Hopefully, they're at least working on a script. They can't exactly throw together the Avengers by the seat of their pants and wish for the best. They should have an actual plan in place.  Oh, and the 4D thing looks pretty cool.  Maybe they'll bring it to other MT locations.  The DC one is definitely a work in progress. They need something to spice it up.

I didn't care that much for the overrated Lost but Holloway's performances were very good. I could see him playing Hawkeye. A cocky, wise cracking, smartass but who has the skills to back up the cockiness.

jfdavis 6/1/2010 10:03:10 AM

I agree you don't need every little thing in from every movie in Avengers. Really all you need from Ironman (2) is Howard and possibly Natasha and Rhodey. From Hulk...nothing but Hulk. Neither Ross is all that important to me...  Not having seen Thor and Cap I can't say but probably not much...

I don't see Holloway as anyone but Gambit (Who certainly won't be in a Marvel production) but then I've not see him play anyone but a con artist.  I suppose he'd be good as Hawkeye but I don't see him leading the West Coast branch...

I stil do not like the new Phantom costume.

Not having seen anything Stewart has been in (Although I really want to see The Runaways somehow) or the first Wanted, I can't really say but somehow her coming in as opposed to Fox appeals to me...

Calibur454 6/1/2010 10:41:56 AM

Jf Davis- and others- Guys don't be fooled by the crap material that is twilight-

the runaways is a great movie about the first all girl rock band that has reached rock royalty. Even if you don't buy the dvd its definetly worth the rental when it hits dvd. The story is good and the music even better.

wessmith- I agree with you that Syfy should stay away from making comic book movies unless it is based in the realm of a sciencefiction universe. I'm just saying that I'm glad I wont even have to pay for a rental to see it. Even if i do think its a total flop

tiredjay 6/1/2010 10:54:58 AM

@fft5305 -  They're telling people to stop telling them about the rumour.  I would imagine that it gets annoying very quick to hear the same content-free rumour as many times as they would hear about it.
