Mark my words, the times will change

Sounds like that weekend will cost me some money. Captain will need to have a few "buddies" show up to take on the big three. Ms Marvel? Namor? Spider-woman? Or maybe it's a team up with a current member.

Captain America 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  Batman VS Superman

Oh no, not two movies opening the same weekend, please anything but that!

I don't get it.  Who cares what opens when, we seeing both anywayz.  Are people gonna high five each other if Mos2 wins or if Capt 3 wins? I guess the trolling will be somewhat amusing.

Ah no way one more or the other won't move.  The bet is which one.  Let's say BvS.

Regardless of when these movies get released you just have to love the fact that we get six Marvel based CBMs before DC releases Batfleck vs. Man of Shite.  WB/DC can't get out their own way because they're operated by a bunch of pretentious a$$hats.

I was watching the Cap 2 red carpet last night and ithe movie looks awesome.

According to Hollywood Reporter, it will be Cap 3. The reason being is they feel confident it can go toe to toe with MOS 2 because of high tracking for Cap 2 and the post Avengers 2 buzz. Dr Strange or something new would be too risky and GotG 2 as well considering they are not sure how GotG will do.

Cap 3 is the logical choice.

@Hanso, agree all of us will end up seeing both. This is just a classic DC vs Marvel rivalry.

I'm just dumfounded they are opening the same weekend. Thought it was standard for movie studios to not open a same type of genre on the same weekend. If you look at Dante's Peak/Inferno, Armegeddon/Deep Impact, Olympus has Fallen/White House Down, etc... They all came out on the same year of release yet didn't come out the same weekend, distancing themselves from one and other.

The problem with the summer of 2016, there are too many superhero movies coming out in a small time frame. I could see why WB/DC changed their late July date. Because by the time they would come around MOS 2, there would have been 4 superhero movies released by then. (Cap 3, X-men Ap, Spidey 3 and Ant Man).  Superher overkill kills box office money.

If I was a betting man I would say MOS should open 2 weeks after Cap 3 and right before X-men or Cap 3 gets another April start date for Marvel.

But I can see why every studio loves the first weekend of May date. Look back at when it all started with Spiderman in 2002 and hasn't stopped the success since.

hanso where you been the last 6 years? Of course there will be high fiving when one or the other wins, don't you read the comments on the web, this site included

I think it is brilliant of Marvel to do this.  Even if CA doesn't win the weekend it is going to take a massive bite out of the the Superman/Batman totals.  Plus you know it's not going to be a CA only movie, there will be some massivie cameos/team-ups happening here.  Marvel will not pull any punches in going head to head with DC.  DC better hope they get some good writing on the movie, the MOS movie was OK, but nothing more.  I know Affleck can do a good job, but that guy has had some major turd movies over the past so I reserve judgement.  I just hope Affleck drops his Bostonian accent for the movie, otherwise Bruce Wayne is going to sound like crap.

I find this kind of sucky.  I like my movies to be spread out, not jam packed into one weekend.  Gives me something to look forward to at the theatre.

If they go head to head, I can see Batman vs. Superman winning, just because it's the first time we'll have ever seen them together on the big screen.  Even though I like Cap more.  Batman and Superman are just better known to Joe Public then Captain America.  Although that is starting to change.
