I was really amazed that we are going to get an Ant Man movie when during the Avengers there was not an apperance by Henry Pym.

Well I hope it leads to Ultron so we have a good roster of Avengers villians.

Guardian is in August?  So, it is one of those films tossed in at the end of summer.  Interesting.  I'd lose the stupid raccoon.

Actually, screw GOTG.  There are plenty of "outer space" flicks.  Give me a SHIELD movie or Black Panther.  Do all the superheroes on earth have to be white?  I've seen The Avengers face off with aliens. I think next go around it should be a whole new threat.

Hush now, no talking DC here.

I think GotG has a lot of potential. Everyone Marvel was tackling something huge with an all-star roster of heroes in Avengers but they pulled it off. I have faith they can handle a super team in space. This is also something new they could tackle. Have we ever seen something like this before? Look how Farscape was done for a TV show and that one sort of has elements of an elite group of beings fighting for a cause. A lot of potential for this. A great combo of leader, loose cannon, comic relief, etc...just like any super team except this one is in space! Marvel has balls doing this.

As for the other movies, Cap 2, Thor 2, Ant Man. Once again, big kudos to Marvel/Studios for actually having a plan. It's no surprise they have some of the Marvel bullpen get together and hash these out just like they do every year for big events on the comics. That is why the end credits usually has Marvel staffers liker Millar, Bendis, Joe Q credited as consultants. It's also good to know that these movies will be made and they are not just tentative.

I will not knock DC/WB on this one as they might get their act together. Instead I will take a shot at Fox and Sony and how they are pissing all over their Marvel properties. All they do is throw in quick movies to keep rights and have no sense of planning out the franchises. Case in point was Ghost Rider 2. Those mofos at Sony were going to lose the rights in November and were originally planning a reboot with a whole new cast, but had no time so they just grabbed the first script and Nic Cage and put a steaming pile of turd together. The same is happening with Daredevil and FF. David Slade (new director of DD reboot) walked out and now Fox is scrambling to get anyone to replace and get this movie done asap. FF is going through the same process. I could even say Fox did the same with Wolverine Origins. No plans. Just shooting crap to retain rights.

I also can't wait to see who plays Gamora. :)

Darth - I actually heard the suits wanted to push Leo DiCaprio as The Riddler on Nolan, but Nolan didn't want to use the character, and I doubt even Leo could have bulked up to play Bane.  Wouldn't have been bad with Leo as The Riddler, and he and Nolan certainly seem to work well together, but just wasn't the direction Nolan wanted to go.

And for those Ant-Man naysayers...yeah, I'm not big on the character myself, but I was VERY excited when I was promised a movie directed by Edgar Wright.  As always, it comes down to script and director.

I'm disappointed that Black Panther isn't one of the movies. I was hoping for a solo Panther movie leading into him joining the Avengers in Avengers 2.

I understand bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy into theaters because of furthering the Thanos storyline, but I don't like it. I think the raccoon character (and most of the others) is just plain awful. I'm not saying the movie won't be good or it won't connect with fans, but I just plain don't like the characters. If you want to make a space movie then focus on Nova or Adam Warlock or even the orginal Captain Marvel since he has a history with Thanos. I'm sure I'm a minority in these thoughts and I trust Marvel to make a movie I want to see.

Ant man as a solo movie, especially done by Edgar, is not something I'm excited about either. Every time I see Edgar's name I think of that awful Scott Pilgrim movie and shudder to think of him handling a Marvel movie. Again, I have to trust Marvel because they've done well with picking directors. I just don't want to see a comedic take on Ant Man.

vitieddie 7/15/2012 7:55:18 PM

I'm looking forward to Ant man but as a DC fan ... just wish they would have taken a risk with an Atom movie ... start the ball rolling on that JLA dream

SarcasticCaveman 7/15/2012 8:31:53 PM

Yeah, Scott Pilgrim was pretty awful...but what about Shaun of the Dead?...what about Hot Fuzz?  They guy makes one crappy movie and you lose faith?  I didn't discount Guy Richey after he made that awful Madonna movie...just sayin.

I honestly don't see the appeal in a Black Panther movie.  Just seems like King Batman to me.  I'd be all kinds of down for a Heroes for Hire movie though.
