Marvels' struggles take a bite out of 'Venom'

By Rob M. Worley     February 18, 1998

The DNCC featured another extensive interview with screenwriter David Goyer, this time on the topic of the 'Venom' movie.  The movie based on the Marvel character and to be produced by New Line Cinema is apparently stalled.  Goyer told the DNCC "Marvel's financial woes have screwed up any project which isn't in production or imminent.  The budget for Venom is quite high -- $60 - $70 million -- and New Line doesn't want to move forward until they get an A-list director.  It might still get made."
