Djimon Hounsou is The New THULSA DOOM - Jul 22, 2008 - 09:34am
I'm in total agreement with you guys. Thulsa Doom came and went, with an astounding performance by James Earl Jones. It should never be recast, but that's Hollywood for you. They'll continue to butcher Howard's work until we stand up and say "Hell no, we're NOT paying for this pseudo-Conan crap." Vote with your pocketbooks.
Hey, it worked for "Meet Dave."
Sci-Fi Announces New Genre Slate - Jul 22, 2008 - 09:28am
Well, I don't watch Stargate, so if it stays or goes, it's of no consequence to me. Once that is over and BSG runs its course, SciFi Fridays will be weak at best. None of these shows sound remotely interesting and if they're going the reality route, then I won't be watching.
HANCOCK: Superman III 1/2? - Jul 02, 2008 - 08:55am
Well, judging from all of the positive, butt-kissing reviews that have suddenly popped up... I see that the Church of Scientology is alive and spreading! Hail Xenu!
Iron Scribes Penning HIGHLANDER Remake - May 21, 2008 - 07:30am
I think this idea should remain on the planet Zeist, where all bad Highlander scripts originate.
MGM Planning New ROBOCOP & RED DAWN? - May 20, 2008 - 02:36pm
I grew up in the 80's and loved these films for what they were. But why...oh Dear God, why does Hollywood have to go back and redo so many movies?
Geez! Hollywood does indeed need to burn to the ground. We need some new writers.
George Lucas Talks INDY 5 - May 20, 2008 - 02:30pm
I'd rather see them re-cast Indy and have some more adventures in the early 1930's. Or better yet, show what he was doing as a Colonel in WWII.
Hill Out of TRANSFORMERS 2 - May 09, 2008 - 11:00am
gauleyboy420, do the initials "F.O." mean anything to you? When you're done defending your no-talent, ass hat boyfriend Jonah Hill, let the world know.
Would Miller Do BUCK ROGERS? - May 09, 2008 - 08:38am
Hey, it might be as good as the Sci-Fi Channel's "Flash Gordon!"
Okay, I'm kidding. God, I hope they don't mess Buck Rogers up.
Hill Out of TRANSFORMERS 2 - May 07, 2008 - 02:44pm
Well that's good news for me, because I absolutely hate that fat little SOB. He's not funny and pretty much ruined "Superbad" as a movie. And he was awful in "Knocked Up" as well. I don't know what Judd Apatow sees in this no-talent ass hat.
"Transformers 2" will be a better movie without him.
Sleestaks Revealed for LOST Remake - Apr 29, 2008 - 08:13am
Remember when Ferrell played Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?" Will Ferrell is a big fan of the original series and I do believe that he is sensitive to the fan's expectations. It's a tribute more than a remake.
I believe that an action-comedy is probably the best route to go with this, while maintaining the fun look of the original. The proof is in the Sleestak's classic look from the 70's. Seriously, who didn't laugh at the Sleestak crossbows in the original show? They couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Much like "Galaxy Quest" this movie could be both serious and funny at the same time.
CLOVERFIELD - Apr 10, 2008 - 10:28am
I'm one of the people who absolutely hated this film. I left 30 minutes or so into the movie, because it made me physically ill to watch. Stupid shaky-cam effects. But honestly, I would have probably walked out anyway, because Hud annoyed the living sh_t out of me from the get-go. The reviewer was right about that and I do know people like Hud. I freaking hate people like Hud and it made me hate the characters for being friends with such a dumbass. And when it comes down to it, I hate the typical New York socialites they showcased in the film. This is one of those cases where I'd side with the monster for wiping out these non-sympathetic morons. So, yes...hated the movie and will not be buying the overhyped DVD with the lackluster "alternate endings."
CLOVERFIELD Hits DVD April 22 - Apr 02, 2008 - 11:30am
I was one of the many who got sick while watching this piece of garbage. I left about 30 minutes into it and I don't think I missed a thing. I'm just glad that "Hud" was killed horribly, because I hated that jack ass from the get-go.
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: He That Believeth in Me - Apr 01, 2008 - 10:57am
Bah! This show lost me last season with the unveiling of Tyrol, Tigh, Anders, and that presidential assistant that nobody cares about.
That and the freakin' Jimmy Hendrix music. L-A-M-E.
CBS Cancels JERICHO Again. - Mar 24, 2008 - 11:54am
CBS is the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked. That's right, CBS... Don't listen to your viewers. That's why your networks sucks so bad and is getting it's ass kicked daily.
Now get back to work CBS and spend those millions trying to figure out how many gay guys need to be on the next Big Brother.
Paramount Confirms CLOVERFIELD 2 - Jan 31, 2008 - 07:33am
Great, now I can blow chunks at my local theater again. NO THANKS!
I also left about 30 minutes into the movie and got my money back. Maybe they'll resurrect Hud so he annoy the sh*t out of me again, because he's the second reason I got up and walked out of this garbage fest. I later heard that he died and I'm glad that his character died horribly.
The "shaky-cam" technique is a fad and it didn't work for this movie. It works for short clips, like "Saving Private Ryan" but only in short segments and action clips. Had the negative reviews and nausea warnings hit a few days earlier, we could have been looking at a box-office bomb. But lucky for Abrams, things were kept quiet and thousands of movie-goers had no idea that this film would cause Vertigo. It was only after the first week, that the signs were put up in the ticket booths and the news shows started reporting the negative effects on viewers.
Besides, a sequel will never work for this kind of movie. I smell another "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" on the way. Way to go, Hollywood. Cash in on a fad. Maybe you can compete with the SAW movies and make many, many craptacular sequels.
SPARTANS Grab Victory Against Rambo - Jan 27, 2008 - 10:47pm
I'm not shocked that "Cloverfield" dropped to number four. Negative word of mouth is spreading about the motion-sickness factor. It's already made its money and made me nauseous, so it can go away now.
Family Guy: Blue Harvest - Jan 21, 2008 - 10:22am
Family Guy has been wearing pretty thin the past two seasons. I think Seth McFarlane is running out of ideas and the show is suffering for it. I've been watching some of the older episodes from Season 1-2 and they were much better. I think American Dad is spreading his creativity too much and I'm a bit sick of McFarlane mugging for the cameras and getting cocky.
This Star Wars-themed episode was okay, but it wasn't great. For Fox to release it as an individual DVD (and not in a season set) just goes to show you how money-hungry they are in conjunction with Lucass.
Marlon Wayans Holds Ripcord in G.I JOE - Jan 07, 2008 - 09:46am
Roadblock has already been cast. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko from "Lost") will be playing the part and I'm pretty happy about that.
Marlon Wayans Holds Ripcord in G.I JOE - Jan 07, 2008 - 09:02am
Holy crap, this is bad news for the "G.I. Joe" movie. Any time you throw in a Wayans brother, you might as well knock off a star or two on the movie rating. I agree with what the others are saying -- his casting just brings up really BAD memories about the "Dungeons and Dragons" movie. Also, I keep picturing the awful "Little Man" and "White Chick" movies.
And he's supposed to be playing the LEADER? Geez, this news just keeps getting worse.
THE KINGDOM - Dec 30, 2007 - 05:11pm
All they had to say was "Jamie Foxx" and I had zero interest in this movie. The best movie he was in was "Stealth" and that's only because his sorry character got killed about 1/3 of they way through the film. I laughed at that scene, because the movie only got better with his absence.
JERICHO The Return - Dec 30, 2007 - 05:07pm
Hell yeah. Jericho is a great show. Thank God they got the show off its feet at the end of Season 1. It's worth watching, if you can get past the build-up, which is a bit slow.
But it's getting good.
Peter Berg Confirms DUNE Remake - Dec 27, 2007 - 10:24am
Very Bad Things - Crap.
The Kingdom - More crap.
Friday Night Lights - Utter crap.
The Rundown - Extreme crap.
I have no faith in another DUNE movie, especially from a director that no one has heard of. That movie list shows me what a pathetic track record he has on his hands. Friday Night Lights? Geez!
The David Lynch version was acceptable for its time and is still the best interpretation of the book. Most of you fanboys weren't around when it came out, so you have no argument or soapbox to stand on.
The Sci-Fi version had horrendous costumes, outdoor sets that looked like indoor sets, and craptacular casting. The Sardaukar looked like French Pastry Chefs and the Bene Gesserit looked like Dutch milk maids.
Now I did like "Children of Dune" and the addition of Alice Krige as Jessica (who's performance was negated by the pitiful Susan Sarandon).
Unless, they break the movie up into two or three parts, this attempt will be scoffed at like its predecessors.
Two More Confirmed for G.I JOE - Dec 20, 2007 - 08:11am
Said Taghmaoui has been typecast for years as your typical Muslim Terrorist character. Just look at his credits and pics on IMDB. Why in the hell did they cast him as "Breaker?" That makes absolutely no sense, unless he is a MOLE for Cobra. I like the rest of the cast, but for them to cast Said Taghmaoui as an "American Hero" is a BIG mistake. Diversity be damned.
"Breaker, we need assistance. Over... Breaker, are you there?"
"This is Breaker... Abu akbar!!! Allahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Oops! I mean COOOOOBRRAAAAAAAAAA!!! CLICK --- BOOM!!!"
Snake Eyes Cast For G.I JOE - Dec 07, 2007 - 10:26am
Say what you will about Micheal Dudikoff, but he WAS the "American Ninja" and everyone watched that movie as a kid. Sure, it was silly, but I bet most of us can quote that movie or make some anecdote about it. Every kid in grade school went out and bought throwing stars.
Anyway, Ray Park will make an awesome Snake Eyes and I can't wait to see the rest of the cast. I don't like Sienna Miller though, so I'll reserve judgment until I see her in costume.
Seth Rogen Talks about GREEN HORNET - Nov 30, 2007 - 01:33pm
I used to like Seth Rogan and have watched him grow as a comedian, from "Freaks and Geeks" -- all the way to "Knocked Up."
However, "Knocked Up" sucked really bad. He does the "burnout/loser/dopehead" character fairly well in his movies, but it's getting really, really old. It's good that he stretched his acting a bit as the cop in "Super Bad" but he needs to work on other characterizations.
I think he's already typecast himself and being in a Kevin Smith movie will just reinforce that stereotype.
BIONIC WOMAN: Do Not Disturb - Nov 30, 2007 - 01:24pm
I watched the first three episodes and have the rest on my DVR at home (waiting for the holidays to catch up). Anyway, the show had promise with the development of Jamie's abilities and the technology was pretty cool (especially the eye targeting system). Michelle Ryan is smoking hot...and the first sister was freakin' hot, hot, hot (too bad they recast her).
Miguel Ferer was a nice addition to the show too, but the series and cast has never found its beat. It started to feel like bad episodes of "Alias" and it quickly lost my attention.
I too believe that the writer's strike will kill this show. It has no feet.
Logan's Run - Nov 28, 2007 - 03:28pm
As a huge fan of the original movie, I don't want to see this movie rushed or mishandled ("Planet of the Apes"...cough, cough).
I'm excited that they're basing it on the original book, but I'm afraid that several movies ("The Island" cough, cough) have beat them to the punch already.
They would have to really work wonders to make this an awesome movie.
Precursor - Nov 28, 2007 - 03:15pm
FilmNotMovie, you said it best with the line: "The-Charlton-Heston-Biological/Ecological-Holocaust/Disaster Trilogy."
I've always considered those three to be a part of his "martyrdom trilogy" myself.
Winona Ryder is SPOCK'S Mother - Nov 09, 2007 - 02:13pm
Thanks for the enlightenment, Kang. I would have never heard you normally, so thanks for screaming in all-caps.
BIONIC WOMAN: The List - Nov 09, 2007 - 02:11pm
Captaincraig is right. This show is quickly steamrolling into familiar "Alias" territory and that is a bad thing.
I have already started to delete this show from my DVR... Sad.
Galifianakis Cast in Bruckheimer's G-FORCE - Nov 05, 2007 - 06:09pm
I second, galaga51. I was hoping this was Gatchaman, but we were duped by a stupid article headline.
That's pretty sorry of them.
[Some spoilers may apply here] I have never forgiven Mike Myers for the abomination that was "Austin Powers: Goldmember." He took what was a good series and flushed it down the toilet. There were so many WTF moments: Mini-Me switches sides to become Mini-Austin? Austin has a father played by Michael Caine? Dr. Evil is Austin's brother?! And casting "popular at the time" stars like Beyoncé Knowles really killed the series. She was horrendous. And the Tom Cruise and Britney Spears cameos in the beginning made me want to get up and walk out of the theater. When you take a pop-culture phenomenon and let everyone in on it, it's no longer hip and cool. It became Hollywood clown vomit. And it really showcased how "un-cool" the series had become when he had the little cartoon "mojo" icons floating around him. They had too much money to throw around during production and Myers was too over the top. And frankly, Goldmember was a very weak character who was gross too (peeling his skin flakes off). Not even remotely funny. I will admit that the "Moley-moley-moley" line was funny, but only for the first 200 times I heard it in public. And for years, we had idiots doing terrible Austin impressions in public: "Oh, beeeehave!" and "Do I make you horny, baby?" over and over. It just became old, wore-out jokes. Yes, this 3rd installment ruined the series for me and many others. I can't even watch the first two movies anymore, because I started to realize that Mike Myers' humor isn't all that special. He just got lucky with a couple of roles. And I won't even comment on his recent movies, which have lead to ultra-disasters like "The Love Guru." The only good thing you can say about Mike Myers today is "at least his career is better than Eddie Murphy's." Austin Powers 4? No thanks. I'm over it.
