Warner Bros. has begun the year-long hype machine for next May's THE MATRIX RELOADED, and here's the latest bit of big news: The studio is joining with Monolith Productions and Eon Entertainment to develop an online role playing game, ala EVERQUEST based on THE MATRIX universe.
In a press release crowing about the development, "THE MATRIX is a perfect property on which to base a massively multiplayer online game," said Kevin Tsujihara, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Business Development & Strategy for Warner Bros in the statement. "This project will combine the online entertainment resources and expertise of Warner Bros. and AOL Time Warner with one of the most cutting-edge game developers in the world."
While no word came about a launch date for the game, these things traditionally take years to develop and implement.
