According to Variety, Matt Marsden has signed on to join the upcoming action sequel, Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra.  Sylvester Stallone, Kim Dickens and James Brolin are also in the cast.

Marsden will play a mercenary who works with Rambo.  IMDB lists the following as the plot: "The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers."

Filming is expected to begin February 23 in Thailand.

KJ's Take:  IMDB isn't what it used to be, but back on topic, the plot is moronic, so naturally it should be a great movie.  I can't wait to see me some more Rambo.

i just read than actually he don t wish to do it anymore, but he sign a contract 2 years ago. if his completely involve can be good, like rocky, but if it s just a job can be crap.

Why is the plot moronic KJ? Because it involves a group of CHRISTIAN missionaries? I suspect that if it involved a group of devil worshipers or sadistic tortures it would be cool huh? I happen to think that the plot sounds really cool and I find it refreshing to have a Christian element in an action film.

If only the plot was: In his testament, Colonel(forgot his name) asked for a rescue team to deliver a emprisonned Rambo in some rebelish african country. He deserved it after all the crap he took. that is where we find an older Rambo who is by the power of his spirit still in shape( a la Conair). Then Rambo is rescued and while in the wild John gives himself a ,payback time trip and then fly back to Thailand to join back the monk after a quick pass to vietnam to pay tribute to his lost love. The END.

That would be cool. I actually sent that to Stallone but what the hell!

I don't think it's ridiculous because of the christian missionaries. I think it's ridiculous because it is a plot for a 4th unneccessary Rambo film. maybe it will be bad in a funny way like the grudge 2 was :)

#3: Lighten up, Francis. The plot is moronic. I can't see how removing the word "Christian" from the IMDB synopsis could possibly make a whit of difference here. And I do trust that you're not pinning your hopes of a revitalized Christian presence in action movies on the success of this film.

Why is the plot refreshing renderman? Because it involves a group of CHRISTIAN missionaries? I suspect that if it didn't involve a group of devil worshippers or sadistic tortures it would be cool huh? I happen to think that the plot sounds really hokey and I find it silly to have such a ridiculous element in an action film. ...Don't put words in people's mouths.

"IMDB isn't what it used to be"

Got news for you pal, IMDB ain't the only one.

As for Rambo, it will probably end up in the same dollar figure as Rocky except make a bit more oversees. Thus talk of Rambo 5 will ensue (and maybe 6 in a back to back filming).

Yeah, it will bring in around $70 mill domestically like Rocky Balboa but unlike Rocky it will cost $120 mil to make so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a fifth let alone sixth......

Boombatty, that`s funny as Hell. I almost spit my milk out, but don`t tell Almost, he hates milk.
And Renderman72, that was a ridiculous comment meant to start something. You read that whole synopsis and pulled out the word "Christian"? What about Burma? Why the hell does it have to be Burmese soldiers and why do they have to be sadistic? Are they saying something about the Burmese? Sounds stupid doesn`t it? Exactly!
The plot sounds really moronic and reminds me of a bad Action channel movie plot. I like Rambo but he is such a one dimensional character. At least Rocky has some emotional depth to him. And the plot, like him is totally one dimensional.
Why even make it a religious thing? If they were muslims, you`d probably think it was a moronic plot, wouldn`t ya? Yeah, you would! Admit it!! Admit it !!

KKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And speaking of Christians, has anyone read the review of "Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter"? This is hilarious and I have to see it. Those wacky Canadians!
