Godley & Rennie Join THE X-FILES 2 - Dec 13, 2007 - 10:40pm
Skinner isn't really a guest star. He was literally in half the episodes for the entire run of the series. I mean that is a way higher % of episodes than say chekov was in Star Trek, but people expected him in the movies. I don't think its unfair or somehow weird for fans of the series to want the series regulars to be in the movie. Quite frankly I don't have this huge crush on David Duchovny. As far as I am concerned David Duchovny alone does not an x-file make. Its the whole atmosphere of the show, which includes A) the fbi and B) the relationships, inlcuding the relationships with the peripheral characters.
I agree that this movie seems to be taking a route that is going to cause it to be a flop. If Chris Carter feels the need for some reason to boot the characters he made us like during the show (skinner, Kersh, Dogget, the dead gunment) then just have it be mulder and skully. Please don't try to convince us that teaming up with Amanda Peet and some rapper is cool plan.
Godley & Rennie Join THE X-FILES 2 - Dec 13, 2007 - 06:56pm
I may not go if Mitch Pileggi is not in it. If you are going to get the band back together after all these years, get the god damned band back together. Skinner was there every step of the way and is still alive. He deserves to be in it, and I am sure that just about anyone who is a fan of the x-files (watched the whole series, start to finsih) wants him there to. I would like dogget, and some flash back to the lone gunmen, but skinner needs to be in it.
Nispel Remaking FRIDAY THE 13TH - Nov 14, 2007 - 10:47am
Jason never dies, and has been killing people for almost thirty years. If they want to make a movie about Jason, why don't they just make one and set it in the past. Or set it in the present and flashbacks. Because I have to agree, its pretty disingenuous tocall it a remake or reimagining of a movie, when in fact you are just taking a character and putting him in a new (storywise) movie.
Kirk's Father & Nero's General Cast in TREK - Nov 14, 2007 - 09:47am
To be honest, I'm not looking foward to this. I generally dislike reimaginings, plus I enjoy the next gen era, DS9 and voyager and wish they would just keep movies in that time period.
That being said, I'm not going to trash this movie before I see it, I'll give it a chance.
But, I am getting confused. This reportedly is going to have a huge budget, bigger than any other Trek film. Also, reportedly, that is because Abrams is hoping to get a large non-trek audience into the theaters. Hence the confusion. I don't see how a movie that is going to be heavy on back story (Spocks folks, Kirks folks) with a convoluted continuty unto itself (time travel with flash backs from the past to farther in the past) is going to have mass appeal. Unless the advertisments make this look rediculosly like StarTrek 90210 and the tweens come to see, I just don't see the masses pooring into theaters to see a movie that is going to end up being more complicated than a random episode of lost half way through season three.
Sci-fi Channel Renews STARGATE:ATLANTIS - Oct 24, 2007 - 11:21am
I agree, great news. I just hope that next year they can work Beckett back in to the cast. I also agree Carter has not yet hit her grove, but I'm confident she will get there. I think the writers have a harder time writing for the leader of Atlantis, something always seemed a bit off with Weir too. If all else fails, I think its time Walter had a command.
An Interview With Amanda Tapping and Jewel Staite - Sep 28, 2007 - 10:38pm
Count this as another positive post for Stargate Atlantis.
And I would rather the firefly cast get work in stargate than go hungry.
Whedon needs to realise that even though his shows are great, they don't bring the audiences necessary to keep the shows afloat on the networks. He needs to make friends with cable. And direct to DVD.
Amanda Tapping Talks SG:ATLANTIS - Sep 27, 2007 - 07:39pm
Leave Atlantis alone. It started off a little rockier than sg-1, but its certainly not terrible. During season 9 of sg-1, I thought Atlantis was the superior show.
And sorry to be objectionable, but my favorite part is the interaction of the scientists.
Quite frankly, I have very high hopes since they are swapping out what I felt was one of the weakest characters, Weir, with Carter.
And the reason it is still on the air is because there have been enough people watching it.
Finally, I don't know what website you are talking about, but Mania(formaly Cinescape) hardly posts anything about this show or sg-1.
Babylon 5 Finally - Jun 18, 2007 - 04:00pm
Dito karas1...Ten seasons, and a succesful spin off and no special mention. But thats just Stargate, the Rodney Dangerfield of sci-fi.
The Duke is Tops - May 22, 2007 - 02:48pm
Finally, some special editions of the Duke.
12 inch John Wayne Figure! - Mar 30, 2007 - 02:40pm
Ah yes, John Wayne the racist clan supporter. The man who married three times, but never to a caucasian woman. A man who spoke about national unity at Jimmy Carter's inaguration. The man who campaigned tirelessly for the rights of central and south american countries.
Sounds like a clans member to me.
Oh wait a second, thats right. Just because you were conservative or born a hundred years ago, it doesn't mean you were in the KKK.
