Actor Matthew Davis has joined the cast of Fox's upcoming S. Darko, a sequel to their cult hit Donnie Darko. Davis is no novice to low budget horror movies having starred in Urban Legends: Final Cut, Bloodrayne and Below. The actor will be joining the already cast Elizabeth Berkley, Briana Evigan as well as Daviegh Chase, Ed Westwick and Justin Chatwin. Director Chris Fisher is leading the $10 mil budgeted film.

Plot Concept: The story picks up seven years after the first film when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.

The original 2001 film about a troubled teen who was plagued with strange visions starred Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Holmes Osborne, Mary McDonnell, Seth Rogen, Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze and Noah Wyle. The film only hit 58 theaters in a limited engagement but went onto grab a large following on the video shelves.

I'm going to speak for myself here...MANIA!!! ATTENTION MANIA!!! When it comes for S. Darko, no news is good news. No cast reports, no production photos and definatly no release date would be great. If you guys are listening, can you just go ahead and pretend like this piece of shit isn't even happening? It would be much appreciated. Anyone second???

Is there anyone who actually *wants* to see this movie made? I've never even seen the original and I already know that there's no need for a sequel and that it will suck.

Donnie Darko is quite possibly my favorite movie. I absolutely love Richard Kelly's work. If I were to rank the worst ideas Hollywood ever had, this would be an easy number 1. They are making a sequel to a movie that wasn't left open to a equal. There are no possible avenues for them to tie the plot to the first one. Seriously, are these strange visions hereditary? If so why didn't his older sister see them? Honestly...why does Hollywood even make direct to video? There's almost no marketing involved to promote the film. This is probably going directly to the $5.50 bin at Wal-mart.

Donnie Darko and Southland Tales are two of my favorite movies.....unlike most people, I could give a shit if they make this....if it is good, awesome. If it sucks, oh well. It doesn't take away from the original....and who knows, it might not be half-bad....and I like a lot of direct to dvd sequels. Take for instance White Noise 2...I thougt it was 10 times better than the first. Some of the Hellraiser sequels have been really good. Just my two cents.

I loved Donnie Darko. From my understanding, the movie wasn't about strange visions. It was about time travel. It wasn't really explained if he was "seeing" visions of events from different times or if he was actually "witnessing" them. Since the movie was about time travel, I can see how they can make a sequel. I just hope they are able to do it in a way that that doesn't ruin the concept. I'll give the sequel a shot before I judge it.

There sure isn't any room for a Darko sequel... I'd be interested in seeing how well it's thrown together, but I'd rather them not make one at all.

And Whiskeymovie, I think there's a pretty obvious "Number One" on the List of Hollywood's Worst Ideas... Continuously giving Nicholas Cage work.
