MattyCollector is a dangerous thing for toy fans and fans of their properties. Why? Because so many figures in the MattyCollector Universe are perfect. Perfect likenesses and flawless details. Having just one is not enough. I have no idea who Sir Laser-Lot or Draego-Man are, but damn if the Four Horsemen haven’t sculpted incredible figures. MattyCollector and Mattel were in full force again at Toy Fair this year. They had a private invite only booth and another great assortment of Ghostbusters, Masters of the Universe, and of course Batman toys. The big surprise for this MattyCollector aficionado was the Voltron line. Finally, the Voltron toys we always wanted as kids have arrived. These pictures speak for themselves.
Masters of the Universe Classic:
The MOTUC is growing ever so well with new and interesting characters. I know the line will eventually feature every character previously made but Spikor? My pick of the new line is Horde Prime. I know next to nothing about his backstory, but that is one hell of a cool figure.
Thunder Punch He-Man (March)
Kobra Khan (Club Eternia Figure March)
Draego-Man the Fire Breathing Menace (30th Anniversary figure ships in April)
Sir Laser Lot (August) and the Mighty Spector (May)
Slush Head (May Club Eternia Figure)
Stinkor (May Club Eternia Figure)
Snake Man-At-Arms (Club Eternia June)
Spikor (June)
Frosta (September) and Horde Prime (Club Eternia June)
Griffin (Club Eternia June) and Snake Men 2-Pack (July)
Voltron Classics:
Red Lion has already sold out. If you planned on building Voltron, you are already off to a bad start. Good luck in the secondary market. I was thrilled to learn that there will be a Sven figure, minus a Lion. Sven is my pick of the line making Blue Lion and Allura a must purchase as well. I just hope they never make those damn mice.
Sven (Club Lion Exclusive Figure)
Yellow Lion and Hunk (April)
Green Lion (June)
Blue Lion and Allura (August)
Black Lion (October)
The Ghostbusters:
The Ghostbusters line is starting run out of ideas with all the repaints and variants on the same characters. Where is Janine? Where is the Louis Tully as a Ghostbuster? Thankfully, Dana as Zuul will finally join the line.

The Dark Knight Rises and Gotham City Figures:
The Dark Knight Rises will undoubtedly be the movie of the summer. The Dark Knight Rises line by Mattel and MattyCollector isn’t too diverse or too over the top. Which means we aren’t going to see an under water Batman or a Space Batman for Nolan’s characters. The figures that really stood out were the Gotham City Catwoman and Batman.

I love the Voltron figures. But the lions look like they are made of vinyl - wtf?
And dang it, that TDKR batsignal would go well on the opposite end of my table where my old school bat signal is. Wish it wasn't a collect and connect.
