Max Thierot Talks Craven's 25/8 Horror

With director Wes Craven jumping back into the horror genre which he helped turn in the 70's and 80's, a lot of fans are curious about his upcoming horror movie 25/8 and since previous press releases for the film haven't said much on the plot outline (keeping it close to their chests), it's good that leading star Max Thieriot has explained a bit more on what to expect.

Here's some of what he had to say to Rotten's Shock Til You Drop.

"It's kind of different though. We have one week left but he hired a completely new crew this time, so that was really different for him, because he usually stuck to the same DP and a lot of the same people. Completely new crew, but it's a little bit like Freddy Krueger-ish, but it's more like a thriller than horror. I feel Nightmare on Elm Street is cool because it's very smart. It's not just killing. It has a whole back story and this craziness going on, and I think 25/8 has that, too. It's basically about this kid and his life and when he's born, his dad was a serial killer who had multiple personalities and basically, as people start dying in the movie, I start getting multiple personalities, too, because I inherited it from my dad. It's kind of like this crazy plot but the whole time, people are just switching in and out of personalities. You're not really sure who's killing who and it's very cool."

Wes Craven penned the screenplay and is directing. The film stars Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps, Emily Meade, Nick Lashaway, John Magaro, Paulina Olszynski, Raul Esparza, Zena Grey, Trevor St. John, Alexandra Wilson and Jeremy Chu.

Plot Summary: A serial killer turns up 15 years after his purported death, to kill the seven children born on that fateful night.

25/8 will hit theaters TBA 2009.

hanso, dude! The Hills Have Eyes! A Nightmare On Elm Street! The Serpent And The Rainbow! The People Under The Stairs! Scream! Vampire In Brooklyn? OK, never mind that one. Scream!

He ain’t always hit ‘em out the park but he’s brought enough home that I still get psyched (or at least hopeful) when he’s at bat.

Notice I used a baseball metaphor here and not a basketball one. It’s cuz I love ya!

Joey - All those films are old, that's what I'm saying. He seems to have lost his touch recently. Cursed, Scream 3. I didn't see Red Eye, although that was more thriller than horror.

Serpent and The Rainbow was the shit! I'll be honest I can still pop in Vampire In Brooklyn every now and then. Red Eye was decent but that was only because of the performance of Cillian Murphy.

I feel a little bit better about this one now that the lead said those things...everyone running around screen with multiple personalites sounds kind of promising.

Are you telling me that a werewolf flipping someone off after a crack on their hair isn't scary...

Joey...agreed Scream 2 was the shit and by far my favorite of the 3.

True enough, hanso. I can’t even begin to explain Scream 3 (but I did love 2). And I actually ain’t seen Red Eye yet. That one snuck right by me. I’m just saying the man has made some great genre films, some of my favorites, and I still expect good stuff from him. Plus the whole multiple, multiple personality plotline sounds promising (as needaname has stated) and could lead to some great scares and laughs ala Scream.
