Max von Sydow Takes on Henry in THE TUDORS

The Vatican players in Showtime's "The Tudors" continues to be dominated by genre-favored actors. The series began with Sam Neill playing a Cardinal only to have Peter O'Toole come in later to play Pope Paul III. Variety is now reporting the casting of Exorcist's Max von Sydow as Cardinal Von Waldburg for the series.
Sydow would be the second casting in as many days with British singer Joss Stone joining the production to play Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII's fourth wife.
Season 3's eight episodes will premiere on Showtime sometime in 2009.
