Actor Joseph Mazzello is the latest Joe to be cast in Paramount Pictures' untitled G.I. Joe sequel, with Deadline reporting he will be playing a character named Mouse. Many of you already know Mazzello as a childhood actor after his role of Tim in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park but he recently co-starred in The Social Network and "The Pacific" as well.
Joseph will be joining the previously set stars Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Byung Hun-lee (Stormshadow), Elodie Yung (Jinx), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), Ray Stevenson (Firefly), RZA (Blind Master) and DJ Cotrona (Flint). Production on the sequel is set to begin shortly under the directing guidance of John Chu (Step Up 3D), based on a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
While we have no plot concept to pass along at the moment, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently told MTV Movies that Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock character will be a leading part of the story and "The ninja fans are going to love it. There's a tremendous amount of it. What's interesting is, we both have that going on in the Snake Eyes story, but we've found a way to bring that element into the Joes' story. I think anybody who's a fan of dark, in the middle of the night [action with] a dangerous foe arriving, this is a movie for you."
G.I. Joe 2 will arrive in theaters August 10, 2012.
